Complete Series Seven Boxed Set announced
Friday, 26 July, 2013 - Reported by Chuck Foster

BBC Worldwide have announced the release of the Complete Series Seven Boxed Set on DVD and Blu-ray in the United Kingdom for the 28th October 2013.
Doctor Who: The Complete Seventh Series

Say farewell to the Ponds all over again. Meet the enigmatic Clara for the first time - and the second, and the third. Face enemies new and old, follow the Doctor (Matt Smith) to the one place he should never go, and learn the secret to a really great soufflé. With a cliffhanger ending that will leave fans breathless, this set arrives just in time to catch up before the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special on November 23, and the Doctor’s regeneration in this year’s Christmas Special.

In the first part of series seven, the Ponds (Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) make their final voyages with the Doctor. They save a spaceship full of dinosaurs, don Stetsons in the Wild West and are even kidnapped by the Doctor's oldest foe. But when they arrive in Manhattan the Weeping Angels are waiting for them - and the Doctor has to say goodbye to his companions forever.

The 2012 Christmas special, The Snowmen, brings the Doctor a new friend (Jenna Coleman) in Victorian London - but has he already met her before? And will she be able to pull him from his mourning in time to save London from the chilling menace that threatens it? The final eight episodes of series seven see the Doctor and his new companion battle monsters on distant alien planets, become trapped in a Russian submarine with a deadly passenger, chase terrifying ghosts, and come face-to-face with an army of upgraded Cybermen. When his friends are kidnapped, the Doctor and Clara are forced to visit the fields of Trenzalore, where the question that must never be answered is finally asked… and the Doctor uncovers the secret of the Impossible Girl.

The incredible list of guest stars includes John Hurt (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy), Warwick Davis (Willow, the Harry Potter films), Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones), David Warner (Titanic, TRON), Dougray Scott (Hemlock Grove, Ever After: A Cinderella Story), Ben Browder (Farscape), David Bradley (Game of Thrones), Jessica Raine (Call The Midwife, The Woman in Black), the mother-daughter duo of Dame Diana Rigg (Game of Thrones) and Rachael Stirling (Women in Love, Snow White and the Huntsman), and the voice of Sir Ian McKellan (The Lord of The Rings films). The episodes are written by lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat, as well as Neil Gaiman, Mark Gatiss, Neil Cross, Chris Chibnall, Toby Whithouse and Stephen Thompson.

    Special Features:
    • Audio commentaries for: The Snowmen, Cold War, Hide and The Crimson Horror

Dark Eyes 2 Artwork & Trailer

                      http://bigfinish.com/news/v/dark-eyes-2-artwork-trailer

he Eighth Doctor is back - and it's all looking and sounding spectacular. With Dark Eyes 2 (the long awaited follow-up to the acclaimed, award-nominated Dark Eyes) set for release in the coming weeks, we thought it was time to show you the individual cover artwork and tease you with another, fuller trailer.

You can have a closer look at this pack-shot by clicking on the image, which shows the covers for all four of the instalments of Dark Eyes 2... The Traitor, The White Room, Time's Horizon and Eyes of the Master. The stunning artwork is by Damien May.

The trailer, which you can download by clicking on the 'download file' link at the bottom of this news item, features guest stars Ruth Bradley (as Molly O'Sullivan), Nicola Walker (as Liv Chenka), Natalie Burt (as Sally Armstrong) and Alex Macqueen (as the Master) - with a special, brief snippet of cameo guest star Frank Skinner (well known to UK audiences).

'This is possibly the most hotly anticipated Big Finish release since The Light at the End,' says executive producer (and director of Dark Eyes 2). 'And it takes the Eighth Doctor, Paul McGann, off in an entirely new direction.

'With Paul having appeared on screen again as the Doctor, interest in his incarnation has gained momentum,' continues Nick. 'His enthusiasm for the role is unabated.'

Attendees at recent Big Finish Day 4 event would have witnessed Paul and Nick on stage together, comparing texts on their phones, as they recalled their first conversation about whether or not Paul should do Night of the Doctor.

'He asked me, saying, rather flatteringly, that he trusted my judgement,' says Nick. 'I said, "You should do it!" and luckily, Paul listened. I know he really enjoyed the experience.'

There is, of course, still a long way to go before the events of the Dark Eyes series (or indeed any future Eighth Doctor audios) catch up with the events of Night of the Doctor. If you haven't yet caught up with the events of Dark Eyes, just click on the title to catch up now.

Meanwhile, here's what's coming up in Dark Eyes 2...

When the Doctor defeated the Dalek Time Controller and its Time Lord ally, the timelines shifted and events changed... but the danger is far from over. And new threats to the continued safety of the universe are emerging.

Molly O'Sullivan carried on with her life as a nursing assistant in World War One. She probably thought she would never see the Doctor in his 'Tardy-box' again...

From the Dalek occupied planet Nixyce VII through Earth's history and to the very edge of the universe, the Doctor's footprints across eternity are being tracked by foes old and new. But when did it all begin and when will it end? Living his life through the complexities of time travel, the Doctor can never be quite sure if he's experiencing his life in the most helpful order. The only certainty appears to be the advance of the powers of evil and the oncoming threat of a fight to the death against forces that would destroy everything the Doctor holds dear.

See the artwork and download the brand new trailer now by going to the link above...

Hear, hear! It will be interesting to hear BF eventually take the Doctor ever closer to the way the universe was shown to be in The Night of the Doctor - those very early Time War-years with the Doctor living around it rather than taking part in it.
I'm also at some point going to try and get the 6th Doctor audio The Apocalypse Element and I recommend others do as well because apparently someone said this about it on their blog:
"We may never get to see, read, or hear how the Time War between the Daleks and the Time Lords ultimately played out, but this is about as close as we'll ever get."

Yes. Indeed, that's a great story. It also sets up The Dalek Empire spin off series, which is brilliant. I'm working my way though (shedloads) of the Audio sagas at the moment (following release order) so I've just finished 'Gallifrey' S2, I can't wait till Gallifrey 6, because the Daleks invade again... and considering that the Gallifrey saga runs parallel with what's going on for the Eighth Doctor.... I think that may have some Time War implications....

I have the 5th and 7th Doctor's chapters of the Dalek Empire and also planning to get Gallifrey at some point too. I'll see how my money goes but I'll definitely make a point of getting Dark Eyes 2.

To be honest... the Main Range 'Dalek Empire' saga bares little resemblance to the Dalek Empire spin off with the exception of the Apocalypse Element which serves as a launch platform... Time of the Daleks almost seems completely out of place...
