J ~ Jackson, Ben - Ben first appears in the 1966 story, The War Machines, when he meets Polly Wright and Dodo Chaplet in a London nightclub called the Inferno. As an Able Seaman serving in the Royal Navy, aboard the HMS Teazer (R23). Ben is feeling depressed and angry because he has a six-month shore posting while his ship is deployed to the West Indies, but Polly and Dodo try to cheer him up. When Polly is accosted by another patron in the Inferno, Ben comes to her rescue. Eventually, Ben and Polly aid the Doctor in his fight against the rogue artificial intelligence known as WOTAN. Afterward, Ben and Polly are the bearers of the news of Dodo's decision to stay in 1966 to the Doctor, and accidentally get carried away in the TARDIS when they try to return Dodo's key to the time machine.

He was present with Polly when the Doctor underwent his first regeneration in the stories The Tenth Planet and The Power of the Daleks and continued to travel with his second incarnation.

Ben, along with Polly, asked the Doctor to take 18th century highlander, Jamie McCrimmon with them on their travels in the story The Highlanders.

In the 1967 story The Faceless Ones, the TARDIS finds its way back to 1966 London on the very day Ben and Polly had left (although about a year had passed for them). They decide to remain behind to resume their lives without disruption as the Doctor and Jamie travel on.

Ben Jackson was played by the late Michael Craze.

K ~ Krynoid - The Krynoids appeared in the 1976 Fourth Doctor serial 'The Seeds of Doom'. They are a highly dangerous, sentient form of plant life which are renowned amongst galactic botanists. They spread via seed pods which travel in pairs and are violently hurled through space by frequent volcanic eruptions on their unnamed home planet. The pods when opened are attracted to flesh and are able to infect and mingle their DNA with that of the host, taking over their body and slowly transforming them into a Krynoid. The species can also exert a form of telepathic control over other plant life in the surrounding area, making it suddenly dangerous and deadly to animal-kind. In the later stages of development the Krynoid can also control the vocal cords of its victims and can make itself telepathically sympathetic to humans. Fully grown Krynoids are many meters high and can then release hordes of seed pairs for further colonisation.

Two pods arrived on Earth at the South Pole during the prehistoric Pleistocene era and remained dormant in Antarctica until discovered at the end of the twentieth century. One of them hatched after being exposed to ultra-violet light, and took control of a nearby human scientist. The Fourth Doctor intervened in the nick of time and ensured the Krynoid was destroyed in a bomb, but the second pod was stolen and taken to the home of millionaire botanist Harrison Chase in England. Chase ensured the germination of the second pod, which overtook his scientific adviser Arnold Keeler, and transformed its subject over time into a virtually full-sized Krynoid. Unable to destroy the creature by other means and with the danger of a seed release imminent from the massive plant, the Doctor orchestrated an RAF bombing raid to destroy the creature before it could germinate.

M ~ Movellan - The Movellans, who made their first and only appearance to date in the Fourth Doctor serial 'Destiny of the Daleks', originated from outside the galaxy and were adversaries of the Daleks.

The Movellans outwardly resemble physically attractive humans, of various ethnicities and both genders. All of the Movellan androids wear white, form-fitting uniforms and wear their hair in silver braids. Being androids, the Movellans are stronger and have more endurance than normal humans. However, the major weakness of the Movellan design is that each android's external power pack, carried on its belt, can be easily removed to completely shut down the android. The power pack circuitry can also be modified, reprogramming the android to obey human orders.

O ~ Opera Glasses - These are a small set of binoculars that the Doctor carries with him in 'The Empty Child', as well as in the novel 'The Nightmare of Black Island'. In the latter, he uses them to gain a closer view of Ynis Du's lighthouse. The actual origin of the glasses are unknown; however, the fact that they are described as having "computer-enhanced lenses" suggests that they are a product of some future time.

R ~ Rassilon - Rassilon was perhaps the single greatest figure in Time Lord history. Certainly he was the most important figure in the official histories of Gallifrey, and was generally considered the first Time Lord, though some believe that distinction belonged to Omega.

A great many important Gallifreyan artefacts bear his name, including the Sash of Rassilon, Rod of Rassilon, Coronet of Rassilon, Harp of Rassilon, Ring of Rassilon, Great Key of Rassilon and the Loom of Rassilon's Mouse. The symbol used as a mark of Time Lord authority is known as the Seal of Rassilon; it appears as a motif in many Time Lord designs.

T ~ Torchwood Three - Torchwood 3, otherwise known as the Hub was the branch of Torchwood that operates out of Cardiff, Wales. It was created mainly to monitor the Cardiff Rift. Over more than a hundred years, Captain Jack Harkness has had a close association with Torchwood 3; he has been its leader since 2000. Though Torchwood 3 was significantly smaller than the London branch, with only a handful of employees, after Torchwood 1 was destroyed in the Battle of Canary Wharf, it became the largest surviving branch of the organisation.

Even before the Battle of Canary Wharf, Torchwood 3 had severed ties with the rest of the organisation and had become largely autonomous. Captain Jack, who did not share the organisation's low opinion of the Doctor, or its policy of placing priority on obtaining alien technology over helping people and saving lives had by that time vowed to continue Torchwood as the kind of organisation which would have made the Doctor proud.

                        Torchwood Three's current operatives are:
                        • Captain Jack Harkness (Leader)
                        • Gwen Cooper (Second in Command / Police Liason)
                        • Ianto Jones (General Support)

                        Former operatives have been:
                        • Phillip Lyle
                        • Emily Holroyd
                        • Alice Guppy
                        • Charles Gaskell
                        • Gerald Carter

U ~ Umbrella - The Seventh Doctor carried, from 'Delta and the Bannermen' onwards, an umbrella with a question-mark shaped handle. He had ceased using it by the time of his last appearance in the Doctor Who television movie. The Sixth Doctor occasionally carried a different umbrella, a multicolored model with a straight handle. This was destroyed in the Seventh Doctor's first story, 'Time and the Rani'. The first time the Doctor is seen on screen with an umbrella (a simple black one), is in the Second Doctor serial 'The Krotons'.

V ~ Void Ship - A Void Ship is a spacecraft designed to explore the Void that exists between dimensions. It appears as a solid gold sphere with no lines until it is open, in which its sides fold down to reveal the occupants. There is no sign that the ship can touch ground.

When travelling through the Void, it is removed from time and space and until activated, it has no mass, heat or radiation that allows the ship to be detected except that it is visible. An invisible barrier prevents anything from touching the ship.

It was thought impossible, but does exist, the only one being a Void Ship used by the Daleks of the Cult of Skaro to escape the Time War with the Genesis Ark. It is unknown if they built it themselves or not.

W ~ Wolfweed - The Wolfweeds are domesticated mobile plants native to Chloris, they appeared in the Fourth Doctor serial 'The Creature from the Pit'. Wolfweeds are round, green plants covered in vines and leaves. They move by rolling, but they can also jump to reach their prey. Wolfweeds capture their prey by smothering them in packs and wrapping them in a grey, web-like substance. They have an animal-like mentality and hunt down their prey. Several Wolfweeds were tamed by Lady Adrasta for tracking purposes.

X ~ Xeriphas - Xeriphas was the homeworld of the psychic Xeraphin race. The planet was mentioned in the 1982 story Time-Flight and the 1983 story The King's Demons. 140,000,000 years ago, Xeriphas was caught in the cross-fire of the Vardon-Kosnax War and devastated by radiation. The fleeing Xeraphin merged into a gestalt and left for Earth. By the early 1980s Xeriphas had returned to a normal state and the Doctor so that they could return. The Master ended up trapped there. Here, he found the android Kamelion, who he decided to use for his own purposes.
