H ~ Hopkins, Alexander "Alex" - Leader of Torchwood Three from around 1996 to New Years Eve 1999. In the 2008 episode Fragments, Captain Jack Harkness returned from a mission to discover his team were dead - killed by Hopkins who claimed they were mercy killings to stop them becoming victims of a storm that mankind wasn't ready for. After looking in to some sort of talisman which had shown him the future, Alex said that the 21st century was when everything changed...but they weren't ready for it. He then said that he was sorry that he wasn't able to do the same for Jack to protect him from the storm but handed over command of Torchwood Three to him for his 100-years of service. Hopkins then turned his gun on himself just as the 21st century rang in.

Alex Hopkins was played by Julian Lewis Jones.

I ~ Ice Warrior - The race originated on Mars, and first appeared in the 1967 serial 'The Ice Warriors' where they encountered the Second Doctor and his companions Jamie and Victoria. The name Ice Warrior is not the name of their species, but was applied to them by an Earth scientific team in the Martians' first on-screen appearance.

The Ice Warriors are reptilian humanoids, their scaly skin and features usually hidden under heavy armour. They have large, claw-like hands on which are mounted sonic weaponry, and their voices are a highly sibilant whisper due to the different composition of Earth's atmosphere. Two types of Ice Warrior are seen in the series, the rank and file Warriors, and an officer class, which fan lore has christened Ice Lords (with at least one being referred to as a "Lord" on screen). The main difference between the two is the design of their armour, with the Ice Lords wearing a lighter, more flexible version than those of the Warriors.

J ~ Jacobs, Sally - UNIT Operative who appeared in the 2005 TV movie The Christmas Invasion. Sally Jacobs was on duty at UNIT's secret base under Tower Bridge when the Sycorax ship came in to orbit and hovered around London in 2006. She, along with the entire population of Earth with A+ blood fell under the control of the Sycorax who then sent them on to the top of buildings. She and everyone else was released when the Doctor broke the Sycorax's Blood Control mechanism.

Sally Jacobs was played by Anita Briem.

K ~ Krillitane - The Krillitanes are an alien race that first appeared in the 2006 episode 'School Reunion'. They had infiltrated the Deffry Vale comprehensive school on present day Earth, increasing the intelligence of the pupils with Krillitane oil. Using the children as part of a giant computer programme, they hoped to crack the secrets of the Skasis Paradigm, the Universal Theory that would give them control over the basic forces of the universe and turn them into gods. Their scheme was foiled by the Tenth Doctor and his companions, though not before they attempted to ask the Doctor to join them in remaking the universe. This conversation showed that the Krillitanes were aware of the Time War, of the Time Lords and of their fate.

The Krillitanes are a composite race who pick and choose physical traits they find useful from the species they conquer, incorporating them into their own bodies. When the Doctor last encountered them they looked like humans with very long necks, but by the time of 'School Reunion', they possessed a bat-like form which they obtained from the conquest of Bessan ten generations prior. However, they were able to maintain a morphic illusion of human form, which could be discarded if needed.

M ~ Malmooth - The Malmooth are a race of humanoid insects native to the planet Malcassairo, who are all but extinct by the year 100 trillion. The last surviving member of their race, Chantho, played by Chipo Chung, appears in 'Utopia'. A devoted assistant to Professor Yana for 17 years, when the Professor is revealed to be the Master and proceeds to turn on the Doctor and his companions, Chantho threatens to kill him. He electrocutes her, but she manages to shoot him before dying, forcing him to regenerate.

A feature of Chantho's speech is that she starts and ends her sentences with "chan" and "tho", respectively. She considers it "rude" to do otherwise, tantamount to swearing.

Physical features of the Malmooth include an insectoid exoskeleton and mandibles, and the ability to survive by drinking their own internal milk.

O ~ Ogron - Ogrons are low-intelligence, ape-like hominids who live in scattered communities on an unnamed planet on the outer fringes of the Milky Way, far from the central spaceways. The dominant lifeform on their home planet is a giant slug-like lizard named the Eater, and the Ogrons both pray to and are preyed on by it.

Ogrons are hired mercenaries. Those who have employed their services include the Master and the Daleks. On some human planets, Ogrons are employed as police officers, usually led by a mentally augmented leader.

Q ~ Quarks - The Quarks were used on Dulkis by the Dominators to enslave and terrorise the indigenous Dulcian population to ensure the drilling of bore holes through the planet's crust. The Dominators planned to use their technology to fire seeds down the holes which would force the core to erupt, thus providing a new fuel source for their fleet.

The Quarks were rectangular in shape, with four arms: one pair which folded into the body, the other pair being retractable. On the end of each arm was a solitary claw. The legs extended out below the Quark body. The spherical head was visibly divided into octants; the upper four octants formed the sensory hemisphere, which detected changes in light, heat and motion. At five of the corners of the octants were directional crystal beam transmitters (the sixth corner joined with the robot's extremely short neck). Quarks communicated by means of high-pitched sound waves. Their major weakness was a tendency to run out of energy rather quickly.

R ~ Regeneration - Natural biological process that a Gallifreyan goes through if their body succumbs to natural causes or fatal injury. It has been said that a Gallifreyan can only regenerate twelve times giving him or her a total of thirteen lives. But since the Time Lords' extinction and the loss of Gallifrey during the Time War with the Daleks, this limitation may possibly no longer be a factor for the only surviving Gallifreyan, the Doctor.

The Doctor himself has regenerated nine times and each time has been caused by different circumstances. Only the Doctor's first incarnation has regenerated because his body reached it's natural end. He is currently in his tenth incarnation.

S ~ Seal of Rassilon - A spiralling insignia somewhat reminiscent of a Celtic knot, it serves as a logo of the Time Lords. It is seen in multiple episodes of the series to designate the Time Lords and Gallifrey. The Seal is most often seen on Time Lord architecture and artifacts, as well as badges on ceremonial clothing. The Seal was featured heavily in the interior design of the Eighth Doctor's TARDIS. It was seen most recently in 'The Sound of Drums', set in stonework beneath the Untempered Schism.

U ~ Umbrella - The Seventh Doctor carried from 'Delta and the Bannermen' onwards an umbrella with a question-mark shaped handle. He had ceased using it by the time of his last appearance in the Doctor Who television movie. The Sixth Doctor occasionally carried a different umbrella, a multicolored model with a straight handle. This was destroyed in the Seventh Doctor's first story, 'Time and the Rani', leading to the question-mark umbrella. The first time the Doctor is seen on screen with an umbrella (this one a simple black one), is in the story 'The Krotons' with the Second Doctor.

V ~ Venom Grubs - Venom Grubs featured in the 1965 story The Web Planet. They are giant woodlice-like creatures that exist on the planet Vortis in the Isop Galaxy. They were used as living weapons by the giant ant-like creatures, the Zarbi.

Although never seen again beyond this one appearance, the Venom Grubs were mentioned by Margaret Slitheen in the 2005 story Boom Town. She said that she had been threatened to be fed to them during her childhood.
