Q ~ Quantum Crystaliser - A device featured in the audio drama 'Human Resources' used by the Celestial Intervention Agency to control time over a small area. It uses branching timelines to explore various possible futures and select the one it likes. Exposure to two Crystallisers causes dangerous instability, potentially leading to death.

The Vault of Secrets is a story that revolved around something else altogether. The scene in it with the NASA probe discovering the Mars pyramid only occurs within the first few moments of the story. Its just wee tip of the hat to Pyramids of Mars.

R ~ Revenge of the Cybermen - 1975 story starring Tom Baker as "The Doctor", Elisabeth Sladen as "Sarah Jane Smith", and Ian Marter as "Harry Sullivan".

      Synopsis
      ---------
Arriving on the Nerva Beacon, hoping to find the TARDIS waiting for them, the Doctor, Sarah Jane and Harry find the space station in the grip of a deadly plague that has wiped out most of its crew. But the Doctor soon comes to suspect that the ‘plague’ is no natural illness - and that some of his oldest and most fearsome foes are behind it...

The beacon has been set up to warn space traffic of a new satellite orbiting Jupiter, but one craft is taking no notice of the order to stay clear - a Cybership. The satellite is Voga, Planet of Gold, home to the seemingly harmless Vogans - but why are the Cybermen so determined to destroy it?

Without the TARDIS, the Doctor is unable to return Sarah and Harry to the 20th Century. But then Sarah falls victim to the mystery virus, and unless the Doctor can find a cure - quickly - she will never make it home at all...

S ~ Smith, Sarah Jane - Sarah Jane Smith is an investigative journalist and the friend and former companion of the Doctor. She was born in 1951 to parents Eddie and Barbara Smith. She currently works from her house in Ealing where she investigates and defends Earth against alien threats.

Sarah Jane made her first appearance in the 1973 story The Time Warrior. She pretended to be her scientist auntie Lavina Smith in order to investigate the disappearances of several research scientists and whilst doing so she met the Doctor. She stowed away on-board the TARDIS and was taken to the 12th century where she helped the Doctor stop a Sontaran from interfering with Earth's past and return the captured scientists back to the 20th century. Following this she joined the Doctor in his travels.

In the story Invasion of the Dinosaurs, Sarah Jane met and befriended Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, Captain Mike Yates, and Sergeant John Benton.

In the story Death to the Daleks, Sarah Jane had her first encounter with the Daleks.

In the 1974 story Planet of the Spiders, Sarah Jane was called in to investigate mysterious goings-on at a monastery the events of which led to the Doctor's third regeneration which she witnessed.

In the following story, Robot, Sarah Jane helped the newly regenerated Doctor through his transition, met and befriended UNIT Medical Officer Harry Sullivan, and continued travelling with the Doctor.

In the 1975 story Genesis of the Daleks she met the Daleks' creator Davros.

In the 1976 story The Hand of Fear, following many travels through space and time, Sarah Jane was forced to leave the TARDIS after the Doctor was recalled back to Gallifrey.

In the 1981 TV movie spin-off K-9 and Company: A Girl's Best Friend, Sarah Jane was given a present by the Doctor to help her with her investigations - robotic computer dog K-9 Mk. III.

In the 1983 TV movie The Five Doctors, Sarah Jane was time scooped and taken to Gallifrey and encountered the Doctor again albeit still in his third incarnation. Together they travelled to the Tomb of Rassilon, encountered the Doctor's first, second, and fifth incarnations and their companions, and they were all returned home once the secret of immortality was made safe.

In the 2006 story School Reunion, Sarah Jane met the Doctor, now in his tenth incarnation. Together, along with K-9 Mk. III and the Doctor's current companions Rose Tyler and Mickey Smith, they stopped an alien race called the Krillitane's from unlocking a code that would have given them the ability to shape space and time as they wished. K-9 Mk. III was destroyed but the Doctor gave Sarah Jane the replacement of K-9 Mk. IV as well as the gifts of a Sonic Lipstick and a Scanner Watch.

In the TV pilot movie of spin-off show The Sarah Jane Adventures, Invasion of the Bane, Sarah Jane was living at 13 Bannerman Road in Ealing and had built an alien computer named Mr. Smith in her attic whilst K-9 Mk. IV was holding back a black hole from swallowing the Earth. After stopping an alien race from taking over the human race, Sarah Jane adopted a genetically engineered boy whom she named Luke and befriended neighbour Maria Jackson.

In the first story of Series 1 of The Sarah Jane Adventures, after stopping Raxacoricofallapatorians from destroying Earth, Sarah Jane made a new friend - Clyde Langer and he joined her, Luke, and Maria in their investigations.

In the 2008 story The Stolen Earth, the Daleks returned and took the Earth and several other planets to the Medusa Cascade as part of Davros' plot to create a Reality Bomb. Sarah Jane was brought together with the Doctor's friends and former companions Captain Jack Harkness of Torchwood and Martha Jones of UNIT to contact the Doctor and transmit their location to him. They defeated Davros and returned all the stolen planets back to their correct spatial coordinates.

In the first story of Series 2 The Last Sontaran, Sarah Jane said goodbye to Maria when she moved to Washington but in the following story The Day of the Clown, she befriended new neighbour Rani Chandra and she joined her, Luke, and Clyde in their investigations.

In the Series 2 finale story Enemy of the Bane, Sarah Jane called on her friend Brigadier Sir Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart to help her access UNIT's Black Archive. With his help they stopped a renegade member of the alien Bane species from gaining access to a power that would have given them god-like powers.

In the Series 3 story The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith, Sarah Jane was placed in a time trap by an entity called the Trickster. With help from the Doctor, she was able to escape it.

In the Series 4 story Death of the Doctor, Sarah Jane was taken to a UNIT base to attend a funeral for the Doctor. During the funeral, Sarah Jane met her predecessor in the TARDIS, Josephine Jones (formerly Grant). They were captured by the alien species called the Shansheeth and they wanted to use their memories of the Doctor to create a key in order to access the TARDIS. The Doctor, now in his eleventh incarnation, called on Sarah Jane and Jo to access all of their memories of their time with him and after him in order to overload the machine creating a copy of the TARDIS key.

In the Series 4 story Goodbye, Sarah Jane Smith, an alien species inflicted Sarah Jane with an illness that made her feel like she was unable to go on defending Earth. Sarah Jane's friends Rani, Clyde and Mr. Smith, later joined by Luke and K-9 Mk. IV, discovered the cause of Sarah Jane's illness and she was restored to full health. She returned to her life - defending the Earth from her house at 13 Bannerman Road.

It communicated with her and instructed her in the building of a computer for it to reside in which eventually became known as Mr. Smith and it helped Sarah Jane with her investigations.

In 2008, the Xylok within Mr. Smith attempted to destroy Earth with help from the Raxacoricofallipatorian Slitheen family. Sarah Jane and her friends managed to restore the Xylok to his default settings and reminded him of his primary mission was to protect Earth and the planet was saved.

The first Emperor Dalek was seen in the 1967 story The Evil of the Daleks. It was much larger than regular Daleks and was immobile due to the fact it was plugged directly into the Dalek City on Skaro. This Emperor appeared to be destroyed during the Dalek civil war.

Another Emperor Dalek featured in the 1989 comic story Nemesis of the Daleks and the 1993 comic story Emperor of the Daleks. Unlike the previous Emperor, this one was fully mobile and was distinguishable from other Daleks by the fact that its casing was gold and had a bulbous dome with more than two talking lights. This Emperor was destroyed when Davros returned to Skaro with his Imperial Dalek faction to take over.

Another Emperor Dalek was seen leading the Imperial Dalek faction in the 1988 story Remembrance of the Daleks during their attempt to gain possession of the Time Lord device known as the Hand of Omega. This Emperor was fully mobile and distinguishable from other Daleks by the fact that it had a bulbous dome, no eye stalk, no weapon and no manipulator arm. The front of the bulbous dome could retract back and reveal Davros inside.

The next Emperor Dalek was that leading the Daleks during their Time War against the Time Lords of Gallifrey. This Emperor was much larger than its predecessors and was plugged directly in to the Dalek Flagship. In the 2005 story Bad Wolf, this Emperor seemed to meet its end after the Doctor's companion at the time, Rose Tyler, used the power of the space/time vortex to destroy it.

Another Emperor Dalek, seen in the 2010 PC game story City of the Daleks. It was exactly the same configuration as that destroyed in Bad Wolf except it was blue in colour and plugged in to the Dalek city on Skaro. This Emperor may or may not exist as time was altered by the Daleks using the Eye of Time and the Doctor restored the timeline back to normal so whether this Emperor was or ever will be built is yet to be seen.
