I was wondering that - if they weren't a fan/regular watcher of the show, etc., it might be easy to think JH was a surprise. Ot there's going to be something at today's show. Is it the same programme?

Yes it's, the same again today. I'm not holding my breath for anything being announced today though.

Apparently Edward Russell's excited tweets were about Dudley Simpson, Carole Ann Ford and Peter Davison appearing. And also also about how he was playing a 60's cameraman on stage during the classic sequence. Personally I think he needs to get out more.

The same could be said for some of the more... intense... DW fans out there.

            Present company excluded of course.

Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.

Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

Surprises at Heathrow Airport as The TARDIS lands

                http://news.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/t...h-anniversary/

BBC Worldwide has teamed up with Heathrow to celebrate the longest running TV sci-fi series in the world, Doctor Who. From today, passengers travelling through Heathrow will be treated to a variety of exciting Doctor Who themed experiences including: appearances from the famous Cybermen, TARDIS photobooths, genuine props and memorabilia, and augmented reality experiences.

To mark the launch of the partnership, on July 16th travellers through Terminal 5 will be able to enjoy special performances by the London Philharmonic Orchestra of music from the iconic BBC Wales produced series. In addition, Doctor Who novelist Jenny Colgan, author of the recently released Doctor Who: Dark Horizons will also be signing books for fans on the day.

The Heathrow activity comes as BBC Worldwide celebrates Doctor Who internationally ahead of the show’s 50th Anniversary in November. Other recent highlights have included an acclaimed light projection show at the Vivid Festival in Sydney, a sell-out pop up shop and commemorative TARDIS coins in New Zealand. In November, BBC Worldwide will host the only official Doctor Who 50th Celebration at ExCel in London featuring a line-up of special guests. This weekend the cast of the show, including Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman, as well as showrunner Steven Moffat will be attending Comic Con, a huge entertainment convention in San Diego attended by over 130,000 people across four days.

Amanda Hill, Chief Brands Officer for BBC Worldwide comments:
"In its 50th Anniversary year we want to include fans around the World in our Doctor Who celebrations and this partnership with Heathrow is a fantastic way of capturing the attention of people from across the globe”.
Susan Goldsmith, Operations Director at Heathrow Terminal 5 said:
“I am delighted that Heathrow has been chosen to host this much loved British iconic series. With visitors from over 180 destinations worldwide, as the UK’s only hub airport, Heathrow offers a fantastic opportunity to bring the Doctor Who experience to an international audience this summer.’
                Steven Moffat, showrunner, said:
“We are delighted to announce another extension to Heathrow’s world-beating facilities – all of space and time in a stylish blue box, complete with phone. Heathrow with time travel – nobody need ever be late again.”

                      BBC Worldwide Annual Report 2012/13

                      http://www.doctorwhonews.net/2013/07...rt-201213.html

Doctor Who once more features heavily in the BBC Worldwide Annual Report, making clear how important the series is to the corporation and putting part of the fall in headline sales for the Company, down to the lower number of Doctor Who episodes produced this year.

The report details how the revenue from superbrands such as Doctor Who, contribute 27% of BBC Worldwide's headline sales, which are down by 14% on the previous year, partly due to a lower volume of output from Doctor Who.

BBC Worldwide exists to exploit the BBC's commercial assets, raising money which can be returned to the Corporation for reinvestment in programmes. Doctor Who has many mentions in this year’s annual report, which details the performance of the BBC assets around the world.

Doctor Who is one of BBC Worldwide’s biggest brands, sold to over 200 territories around the world. It is named as a key part of the digital business strategy where sales are up by 22.8% on last year.

The report details how the Series 7 premiere was the most watched telecast in the history of BBC America and how in Australia, the first ever cinema night of two episodes from Series 6 was number three at the Australian box office.

                      Other Doctor Who highlights include
                      • The Doctor Who Experience which relocated to a long-term residency in Cardiff Bay, following a one-year tenancy at London’s Olympia.
                      • Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock, the first BBC published game on the Sony PlayStation3
                      • The Symphonic Spectacular which was held at the Sydney Opera House and had a total ticketed attendence of 16,144.
                      • The Universal Remote Control has sold 36,000 units since launch.
                      • Doctor Who Home for Christmas 2012, a collection of Doctor Who homewares, ceramics and stationery, designed and distributed in-house.
                      • A line up of Doctor Who collectibles for the 50th Anniversary year including a celebratory range of Royal Mail stamps.
                      • Doctor Who coin produced by New Zealand Mint.
                      • 3.1 million fans on Facebook

As far as I know that story turned out not to be correct. Anyone confirm ?

The Doctor Who Prom Concert sounded amazing. Only regret that the BBC couldn't see there way to show it on television in this anniversary year. When Digital Television was being promoted all sorts of goodies were promised and the red button channel 301 for Freeview Viewers would have seemed a great place to put it - perhaps a few days after transmission.

I'm probably wrong, but I've a feeling BBC1 might show the recorded version of the prom on Christmas morning.

I hadn't seen anything lately, so I did a bit of digging and found this conversation on Outpost Skaro twitter

                                https://twitter.com/Outpost_Skaro/st...34527766953985

They think the 90 episodes rumour is rubbish, but are 99.99% certain that some episodes have been found, perhaps 17.

I don't know what to think. Might all be rubbish once again or there may be a bit of truth in it. Who knows?

The BBC have said that it will be shown "later in the year". Perhaps around the 50th or maybe at Christmas like Brutak said.
