Back to Gwen, to be honest I think she's was purely there as a romance interest for Jack, but IMHO there's no chemistry between them at all, this idea has now been completely blown away by the Jack/Ianto stuff in later episodes and how popular it's been among the fans.

Gwen was originally brought in for a love interest, but like you said reef, no chemistry, so they tried to bring her in as a heart and compassion, but she's loosing hold of her humanity too, so that's not gonna work out either... unless RTD writes in something linking back TUD, she will become superflurious imho....

The thing is, it's already been said by TPTB on DW and TW that the only thing linking Gwen and Gwyneth is the fact they were played by the same actress

i know... i'm just saying that they may end up revising that... i mean really, eventually the fans will question Gwen's purpose, some already have... and if TPTB can't justify her exsistance, they will have to remove the character

Rose was okay... most definately better than Martha.... Gwen.. she had so much potential, and it was all wasted....

I liked Rose in Series 27/1 but at the latter end of series 28/2 she began to irritate like sand in your underwear when they trapped her in the AU I cheered, I agree with you about Gwen's portential being wasted, they could have done so much with her but they turned her into an amoral slapper instead of the human face of Torchwood
