did you read the article on BuddyTV about Jensen? the author says Jensen and Dean are sexaholics and need to go to rehab? I was shocked when I read it. how could he write something linke that??? http://www.buddytv.com/articles/supe....aspx#Comments
this is tasteless...
Just to dig it back up.
As I didn't get to see it before the Jensen comment was removed I guess I wasn't reading it in the same light that you guys were.
And as it is currently feel the need to disagree. I think many people have made it a lot nastier and worse than it was intended it. As I read (whilst didn't necessarily find it funny) I wasn't offended by it but saw for it for it was intended to be. A light hearted jab at the comedy side of the show. And I seriously doubt that it was ever intended to be negativity or a put down to show, its cast or crew or anyone else involved. After all the praise and support that supernatural receives from buddytv what would be the point. What would buddytv get from posting something negative about a show they clearly support
I definitely understand, though, as fans we can become very hot headed and defensive of anything that may be construed as remotely insulting to our favourite characters or actors and whilst most of the time this is a good thing I thing sometimes we fail to see truth for all the red we see, without fully taking the time to see the other side of the story.
Just my two cents.
*goes to hide in a corner to avoid the rocks*
EDIT: not sure if any of that makes sense but oh well
well, they changed it afterwards and I know they might not have intended to offense anyone.
here's the original quote which was posted in Daniel_Shadows blog
Spoiler:
"My bigger question is whether this is the writers' little joke, or is it a reflection of what Jensen Ackles brings to the role? That may sound silly, but on another sci-fi series, The X-Files, Fox Mulder had a bit of a porn obsession. As we now know, David Duchovny went on to star in Californication and checked himself into rehab for sex addiction. Not only did he play a sex addict on TV, but he really was one. I'm not saying Jensen is necessarily like his character in this respect, but Dean's porn and sex obsession is becoming a bit over the top. At least we know he draws the line somewhere: at gay S&M sex."
I don't detest critics as long as they are constructive. these defenitly are not imh
Switch omg Jensen overload *thud*
Hmm, definitely a wise move to remove that. I don't feel it ever a good idea to bring an actor in to things like this, there's just no need.
Funny though how removing that paragraph changes the meaning of the whole article so much. And in the end what it does is make the people who reacted to that comment look crazy. As once removed the comments tend to lose there meaning a little.
My few cents:
I don't mind them writing stuff like that about the show or the characters, it's fiction. There are people out there that love it (like us), some hate it. Everybody is entitled to his/her opinion. The actors however are not the characters and I don't understand how anybody can say something about them at all. What I mean is, I don't know Jensen, you don't know him and the writer of that article doesn't know him either. What is he like? I don't know. I know Dean and Sam, but not Jensen and Jared. I wouldn't say Dean is a porn junkie, he likes women and sex, but hey, which men does not? It's how his character was written, how could that be a part of Jensen? Distinguish between Jensen and the roles he plays, that's all I want.
Sense? y/n?
