After watching Star Trek as well as the other Sci-fi series for quite sometime now I'm just wondering what the heck those Ranks Mean in terms of what those Officers Do.
One thing that has gotten kinda tiresome is the old "Okay,we'll form an Away team which will be made up of the entire command staff and one unlucky Redshirt." most of the other times it just seems like it's somewhat dull too.
Sit around all day at your station going through reports, taking reports to others, dealing with stuff that you'll have to write yet another report on,and more reports. Plus there's those moments of something interesting happening then later on you gotta write a report about that or another log entry gets done.
Or some of the other crew members routines during their workday usually involve Recalibrating and Scanning.
Starfleet seems somewhat boring at times, I wonder how many of you if you were stationed somewhere where it was so dull if you'd be asleep at your station half the time bored out of your skull.
To me it just seems like all the Command Staff gets all the Action, your average officer gets the grunt work and all the danger when you go on a mission with the Command Staff.
One of those things one notices after endless hours of watching at times, just not a nitpick here just an observation.
I can just see an regular officer sitting at their station bored as hell for most of their time on a ship.
What's your Thoughts on the average Starfleet officer/crew member?
