The Star Trek: XI Speculation/Rumors/Ideas/spoilers/News Thread SPOILERS
Just to let you know that James Cawley - James T. Kirk - Star Trek New Voyages is appearing in "STAR TREK" but as for what he is doing (not playing kirk of course) is still unknown
I have read in several places that this Enterprise was: 1.) built somewhere on earth, and 2.) built on Earth and assembled in space. I'm just guessing here, but it could be at the shipyards at Utopia Planitia on Mars.
I don't think that anyone said exactly where the Enterprise was built. I only heard San Francisco, which could be on the ground or a drydock in orbit over the city.
Enterprise Warship in New Star Trek Movie ? Rumor Mill Spinning Fast - Spoilers
ScreenRant website posted new rumors regarding the plot of the J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Trek movie prequel. Beware of major spoilers.
According to the site, the story does not just involve time travel. It actually explores alternate timelines, and jumps between them quite a bit.
While from what we've seen so far it seems like they're being very faithful to the original Enterprise design, in an alternate timeline there will be a significantly different version of the NCC-1701. From what ScreenRant have been told it will be a very kick-ass version - essentially an all-out warship.
Some of the film will also take place in The Next Generation era, although the site won't say at what point in the film.

According to Variety, studio insiders said that J.J. Abrams Star Trek prequel movie has the potential to gross more in May than in December. The movie has no competition in its new slot--at least not so far. One week earlier, 20th Century Fox bows X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
In a report from the Niagara Falls Review, Paul McGillion says he's been in big productions before, but nothing like this.
"[Star Trek XI] does feel huge," he says from his parents' home in Niagara-on-the-Lake this week. It's about the only thing McGillion is allowed to reveal of the secretive production -- he had to sign a 10-page confidentiality agreement when he joined the cast.
McGillion promises that his role will be an amusing cameo for fans. He shares a scene with the new Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), and his character doesn't die -- meaning he could return for the inevitable sequels.
Considering he's also Scottish, McGillion thought the stars were aligned for the part. But he wasn't crushed when Pegg got the call (Pegg also had a small role in Abrams' "Mission Impossible 3").
"I can't say enough good things about what a terrific guy (Abrams) is," he said. "He came up to me immediately and said, 'Paul, thank you so much for doing this - I wish I had something bigger, but we just wanted to have you part of this movie.'"
