Stewart Says Paramount May Bring Back Picard

    http://www.trektoday.com/news/011205_01.shtml

In the wake of the poor box office performance of Star Trek Nemesis, Patrick Stewart repeatedly said that he would not play Captain Picard again (story). Now, however, he may be singing a different tune.

SFX reported that while at a press launch for his new series Eleventh Hour, Stewart made an appearance and mentioned that there have been meetings about a possible new Next Generation film.

Stewart stated that he believes the meetings are serious and indicated that there are potential investors in a film in which he might appear. However, he is committed to work with the Royal Shakespeare Company for the next sixteen months, so he would be unavailable for filming for at least that long.

How would you never want to play such an awesome role again.
Who cares how the movies did in theaters. Just because the entire nation didn't go see Star Trek (most likely because they aren't all fans), doesn't mean people aren't loving it.

If I were him, I'm hop at any chance to play Picard. He's legendary. And fans will always love it.

The way they've mangled the character in the past few films, I'm not sure I want to see Picard again. As long as he avoids all dune buggies, mambo dancing sessions and painfully unfunny wedding speeches, I wouldn't mind seeing him return. Otherwise, I'd rather just remember the dignified man from the television show.

You think the last few films took away from his dignity?

He's doing voice work on Family guy (some) and American Dad (more). I dare you to check those out. Dignity is a word that...well...isn't known to them.

Apparently their creator, Seth Macfarlane, was an avid ST fan, so he managed to get Stewart to do it. On American dad, the character he voices (Deputy director of the CIA) even looks like him.
The truth is out there. Getting there, well thats a whole different can of worms.

since Singer has said he is interested in doing a Trek movie, i am not surprised Stewart would be willing to return. the big question is would the rest of them.

i haven't had the chance to see his roles in American Dad, but i loved how he played Picard is Family Guy with Frakes and Dorn.

i wonder if he'll show up in Kingdom Hearts 2. that i would love.

The dignity of the Picard character, not necessarily Patrick Stewart, is what I was questioning. I do still tend to hold Stewart in high regard as an actor and have enjoyed the voice work he's done over the years, even in his more self-deprecating roles.

Stewart recently voiced the Magic Mirror for a stage production of Snow White at Disneyland. A reprisal of that role in KH2 could be interesting.

he also had a role in Chicken Little and Chicken Little is appearing in Kingdom Hearts 2. if they add a story, Stewart could return for that as well.
