Very average ep. Filler really. Not the best way to end for the break. That farmer was beaten too easy under the ground. I liked the closing scene where Lex walked down the hallway with all the 'Meteor freaks'. Makes him out to look really evil.
Science Fiction is an existential metaphor; it allows us to tell stories about the human condition.

Isaac Asimov once said individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today, but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all.

Really bad episode. Had all the hackneyed elements I've come to hate about Smallville, a villainous meteor freak, and *gasp* a secret Luthorcorp connection. Did the farmer really have to be a meteor freak? Why couldn't it have been his pet mutant mole? At least then it would have been different because I don't think we've ever seen meteor mutated animals. Also dissapointed that the rumors of the Manhunter being in it weren't true. The scenes with Lexana were almost completely pointless, as was anything to do with Jimmy Olsen. All in all I wish I could get this hour of my life back. I sure do hope the next episode isn't this lackluster.

The question which once haunted my being has been answered. The future is not fixed, and my choices are my own... and yet, how ironic! For I now find, I have no choice at all! I am warrior... let the battle be joined.-Dinobot-Code of Hero

A very bad execution of what might've been a good episode, especially with the whole illegal immigrant aspect of Clark himself. However, there's the one exception of the final scene with Lex: this scene seemed to drop the veil that's been hovering over Lex's actions over the last few eps and revealed him for the villain he has truly become. I hope that some kind of Superman show springs off the SmallVerse because they've set up an excellent Lex Luthor (with a brilliant Rosenbaum, easily the best actor in the show) to oppose Superman (though if they did make a Supes show I won't complain if they recast Welling).
