    you're welcome

I did find a plot hole by doing it. The lieutenant with villanova is - as far as i can tell - listed as coxwell....the same lieutenant that's with will in the camp in the first part of the episode.....so either lotus' headquarters is really close to where the camp is in Old City or coxwell (and what a name) zoomed really fast from the camp to the HQ
Where in the World is George Hammond?

Maybe he is a Closet-abnormal with ability to transport.

After reading to get through the whole episode I found what bothers me the most. The whole episode was done either in the camp with all those boring tents, or talking to each other over conference calls. We see the itty bitty fences that were at the camp. Why did they stay there to fight? There where thousands of abnormals coming up from Hollow Earth but all we saw of them where little dots on a distant map that represented them. So the little battle within the camp was to symbolize what was happening in many places all over the world. What potential they had to computer generate this exodus. Sort of Lord of the Rings pre-battle marches that where so haunting. But all we got where a few abnormals carrying a piece of fencing to overtake the few incompetent police/defense squad.

I wanted Epic but felt like we got Upper School Play with limited sets.

        yeah. very low budget, IMHO.

I can't feel any grief over the abbies that died because they were nothing but computer generated specks on a screen. They didn't even have faces. We didn't see any of them die, per se, we just saw some cgi.

perhaps instead of the endless will/lee/villanova bickering we could have had, maybe the family from Into the Black, reaching the surface. Someone we gave a bit of a darn about.

Not to mention the other issues of people that have never seen the sun seeming to have no issue with the brightness and the lack of a roof.

it's like they cut corners on this to pay for Tempus

it all just seemed flat and hurriedly done

That would be excellent drama. I'm sad now just thinking about them being some of the ones that died. You are right that we didn't get to feel the tragedy of the deaths. And with that tragedy, the intense feeling of hatred for those that made the decisions for their deaths. It was like we were in a little bunker while the whole world outside was going to Hell and all the information we got was from watching the new... no... not as good as CNN... like watching the whole thing unfold through someone's facebook feed. ggrrrrr

But the woman of that family (from Hollow Men right?) betrayed Magnus and Will in the deleted scenes, so maybe that's why they didn't show them or thought of them as characters we could sympathize with.
            Unmade Plans (WIP: 11/20):
Sam's life takes a turn in an unexpected direction when she's faced with an unplanned pregnancy. The decision to keep the baby and raise it on her own will alter her life forever. Relationships are put to the test, especially the one between her and Jack. She doesn't know what to expect from him and he surprises her at every turn.
            On FFnet or AO3

my money, no pun intended, is on it simply being too expensive to hire MORE extras to play the praxians on the freedom paths, not to mention either a location shoot or massive green screen scene. I think they already blew their budget on all the extras in the camps and as LDC guards (not to mention all the tents they rented) and simply couldn't afford to do anything like that.

Its too bad they couldn't have come up with some way to get some of those refugees on camera in some way. Like some of them bringing Praxian toys up that they could communicate with or something ike that.

probably just too difficult to do. but, to me, the lack of empathy made all those deaths just a foot note in the episode. 'oh by the way several thousand people just died....too bad.....'

I agree that Uprising needed something. Not sure what. I don't mind episodes that aren't action-y, but you've got to have something you care about going on. Like someone pointed out, we didn't really have a stake in the Hollow Earth abnormals. And I always think Will episodes are weaker. To me he just doesn't have the charisma.

I just wonder if it would have been better to split the episodes as such...Tempus 1 1/2 and Uprising 1/2 an episode. It did seem like they were stretching out Uprising trying to fill out the time. They could have had it split up with Helen in the B story and perhaps what she was doing before she got back.

Well that was a rather disappointing episode. Shoehorning Abby into the episode annoyed me. The whole episode seemed to end in a huge damp squib which really makes me wonder why they set this up as a 2 parter at the end of last season's finale if that's what they had in mind. Hope the next episode is considerably better.

Maybe if bits of uprising had been in Tempus, maybe 12 minutes or so, end Tempus with the abby massacre and Helen being escorted out or finding the body of the woman. Then have 3/4 of uprising be what we saw with glimpses of Helen trying to fix the past, have the past end with Watson saying 'there is another way'
Then the action in the future, and Helen just shows up and have the gobsmack moment be her 113 years of seclusion' revelation.

Maybe keep the pace up and defuse some of the tiresome bickering.

i'm thinking just writing 'uprising' *better* would have done the trick.

(i also love keeping 'tempus' separate and not letting some weaker storyline tarnish it's greatness )
