RYAN ROBBINS STARS IN FEATURE FILM 'LESLIE, MY NAME IS EVIL', SCREENING AT VIFF

Published on Monday, September 28, 2009

Ryan Robbins is also cast in the upcoming feature film 'Sucker Punch' with Vanessa Hudgens. Ryan Robbins is starring in the feature film Leslie, My Name is Evil, which will be screening at the 2009 Vancouver International Film Festival. The film follows the trial and subsequent love triangle involving a young girl, Leslie, who is a former prom queen on trial for murder. Ryan plays icon of evil Charles Manson in the film, the notorious leader of a hippie death cult. The film is written and directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Reginald Harkema. Leslie, My Name is Evil will premiere at the Festival on Monday, October 5th at the Ridge Theatre. For more information on VIFF screening times and venues, please visit: https://www.viff.org/tixSYS/2009/xsl...entNumber=5299 . Leslie, My Name is Evil is gaining critical acclaim from its recent screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival. Moviegoers and reviewers alike have been buzzing about this controversial, unique, stylized film. The Toronto Sun states Leslie is “An audacious movie that does to the Manson Family and the Vietnam War what Inglourious Basterds did to World War II. Leslie, My Name Is Evil may be the wildest Canadian feature to play the Toronto International Film Festival this year.” http://www.thestar.ca/entertainment/TIFF/article/694902
The Reel Addict.com echoes those statements in its review of the film, saying, “Reginald Harkema’s latest certainly isn’t for the faint of heart or the easily offended, but it’s definitely one of the most interesting films I’ve seen so far this year.” http://thereeladdict.com/tiff-09-les...-suck-and-rec2

As one of Canada’s busiest actors, Ryan has a number of other projects in the works as well. Most recently, Ryan was cast alongside an all-star cast in the upcoming feature film Sucker Punch. The film, directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300, Dawn of the Dead), is set in the 1950’s and follows the trials of a little girl who is trying to hide from the pain caused by her evil stepfather and lobotomy.

The adaptable talent is also putting his passion for mixed martial arts to good use in the upcoming feature film Unrivaled. The movie has Ryan starring alongside some of the world’s biggest and best mixed martial arts champions. Ryan plays a former fighter in the film, who is now the CEO of a fight organization. Hector Echavarria also stars.

Ryan can currently be seen starring on two television series’ airing across North America. Ryan plays Henry Foss in the popular series Sanctuary, a role he recently won a Leo Award for in the Best Guest Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series category. The award-winning sci-fi series is gearing up for its second season, which will be airing on SPACE in Canada, and on Syfy in the United States. The second season premieres on Friday, October 9th at 9pm ET. Sanctuary follows the enigmatic Dr. Helen Magnus and her complex and intriguing crew, including Henry, as they explore and ultimately protect the strange and mysterious creatures that populate the world.

Also on the small screen, Ryan plays recovering drug addict Wendell on the hit Global TV series The Guard. The one hour drama focuses on the lives of four coast guard rescue specialists who continue to look for the meaning in their own lives while enduring the daily dangers of life out on the Pacific Ocean.

Ryan also recently starred alongside Anne Hathaway and Patrick Wilson in the thriller Passengers, now available on DVD. Robbins plays Dean, one of five plane crash survivors, who is counseled by Anne Hathaway’s character, Claire. One by one group members begin to vanish, prompting Claire to begin an investigation of her own to uncover the truth, no matter the cost.

A character actor, Robbins is constantly reinventing himself; aspiring to keep each character fresh and unique. He has guest starred in recurring roles on Blade, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Atlantis and The Collector and was the lead in the CTV series Alice I Think. His other film and television credits include The Cabin Movie, When Jesse Was Born (a multiple award winner), Supernatural, JPod, Reaper, Smallville, Catwoman, Walking Tall, The Days, Kingdom Hospital, The Bug (winner of three Leo Awards) and Steven Spielberg’s Taken as well as the highly acclaimed Spielberg mini-series Into the West.

Ryan won a Best Actor award at the Sacramento Film Festival for the short film When Jesse Was Born and has also won several Leo awards including one in 2008 for his guest starring role on CBC’s JPod.

When not busy working on a project, Ryan enjoys spending time with his daughter, writing songs, and watching and training in mixed martial arts.

Ryan Robbins is available for interviews and photographs upon request.

Posting this in various places. Inner Space on the Space channel (in Canada) will have a segment on Sanctuary tonight. I believe it is to include interviews with some of the cast. It will be on after Supernatural. Check your local listings.

Thanks to Pengyn, SamJackShipLover and Mala for the sig.

Just had a fun evening. After the disappointment of not seeing Colin Farrell's movie at VIFF Friday night. I was bound and determined not to miss Ryan Robbins flick "Leslie, My Name Is Evil" which played tonight. That I arrived at least 3 1/2 hours early in the area where the theatre was..

Had dinner and walked down to some neighbouring stores to kill time!!

After they finally let us in, and I had found a seat. I was sitting and chatting with one of my fellow info line Volunteers. When I happened to look towards the back of the theatre to notice a familiar face had just arrived. It was Ryan looking totally gorgeous. He actually sat, just 4 or 5 rows behind me.

I have to tell you. If you ever get the chance to see this movie. DO IT (the director who also was there, said there is to be a DVD)!!! Ryan totally rocks as Charlie (based on Charles Manson). And he sings in the film. Knew he sings, but had never heard him before.

The best part of all came after the screening and Q & A session (with the Director and Ryan (who got several Whistles and yells, have to admit I was one of them :wink. As I was passing Ryan, I said I loved the movie, and told him how much I loved hearing him sing. He leaned forward and gave me a HUG :heart3:. I've now met him three times (Once at Wal*Mart, once at the Gateworld events at Creation, and now tonight) and this had to be the best one!!!

Ryan Robbins has joined the cast of Riese the Series, a Sci-Fi/Fantasy web series chronicling the journey of a traveler named Riese. Riese is played by fellow Sanctuary cast member, Christine Chatelain (Clara Griffin).

Ryan will play “RAND”, an enigmatic figure from Riese’s past, who offers clues to her future.

Robin couldn't officially confirm the 3rd season though. He said it is very very likely and only a matter of logistics. So it does sound good

I like Robin a lot, but if someone else where to explain why logically Sanctuary gets a S3, than I'll fell better. Someone like him-
