Oh, and this is totally random, but I saw Mary Poppins on stage last Friday, and of course they sang the "Feed the Birds" song, which makes me think of Niko now. (because it's...about PIGEONS...)

That song has a habit of making a me, non-crier, cry, but when I saw it performed on stage, I was practically sobbing, which is VERY unusual for me when I watch a show/movie/etc. The fact that it made me think of Nikola feeding his little pigeons added to that... :'(

Without a doubt, had Nikola passed by the poor old bird woman, he would have given his money to buy a bag of food. Which, in the Poppins storyline, symbolically represents him as a good person

I apologize for any tears, but such beauty cannot go un-shared.

Also, the woman in the original London/Broadway cast recording sounds a lot like Julie Andrews, which makes it even more emotional.
