CI-FI BALL: Cast members from the new Sci-Fi Channel show "Sanctuary" have become big fans of the Tampa Bay Rays after a fun-filled afternoon at Tropicana Field on Saturday.

"This is the way baseball should be played: it's air-conditioned, everyone is so friendly and the team is a winner," said actress Amanda Tapping, who threw out the first pitch, signed autographs and watched the game from a suite.

Also making the first pitch were co-star Robin Dunne and "Sanctuary" producer Damian Kindler, who also was impressed with Rays hospitality.

Pardon me for saying this but I think that some conventions are becoming more about making money than bringing the fans together...

Creation cons have always been about making money. The boys didn't go into it to bring fans together.

Creation cons have always been about making money. The boys didn't go into it to bring fans together.

But with the right attitude, you can make even Creation Cons about bring the fans together. I've done it. If you're like me and have seen just about everyone do a Q&A and don't really mind missing it, you can simply hang out with fellow geeks in the lobby and only spend money on food and drink. For me, that's what a con is all about. The actors are just a bonus.

Quick update for those that are interested (Because I promised to let you know!), the Sanctuary fic site is back up and running without any scary virus warning pages. Huge thanks to Antoa and "the other" who spent a lot of time and effort installing updates and ironing things out.
