I wouldn't think the changes the serum made would be passed along. As far as the "killer instinct" it depends how much was already in Druitt's nature before the experiment...

That's what I was thinking, Druit already had 'the killer instinct' in him, he could have been an abnormal, but not manifesting the 'symptoms' yet. And then with the serum it could have made it more 'powerful' for lack of a better term.

In the pilot Helen said, "Because he will kill us both."
Why would Druitt have wanted to kill Ashley in the first place, I can understand Helen, but not his own flesh and blood. Maybe there was an agreement with the original 5 that Helen wasn't supposed to have children. Otherwise why would John have made that point to say "The others will come?"
It could add to the list of the reasons that she waited longer to have Ashley...
Just a thought....

Remember that Ashley hadn't done one thing her mother had asked up to that point and Helen was getting desperate. Saying that kinda contradicted what Helen said to the mermaid so that's why I eventually came to this conclusion.

I'd love more story with the mermaid. And I suspect that Ashley isn't going to be so easy to deal with in the future...I wouldn't be at all surprised if she defies her mother to the point of endangering not only herself but others around her.

I would love to see some close mother/daughter relationship happening...you know...a bit of fun and laughter and all that...like the picture of Helen holding a young Ashley...I love that!!!

I believe they already have that close mother/daughter relationship. It's one with boundaries, but one of the best I've seen on tv in a long time. The history they have working together is there and the special memories do come in passing I've noticed. The smiles they give each other show that though their relationship has matured, it's still solid and very close.
