Actually it's 100% real. He auditioned for the show without one because he often wasn't hired because of it. Then on the first day of filming I think it was J.J. Abrams came up to him and told him "to be free" and do his natural accent.

Josh Holloway's family moved to Georgia when he was 2 so the accent is genuine.

Wow, I thought he was faking it because it sounds so thick.....thanks for the clarification Nightingale.

I wonder why the writers are trying so hard to portray him as this loner, frog killing horder that seems to hate most everyone?.

How much of Lost have you seen? Because that can be explained a little.

I have seen most of it Nightingale, but I have never seen any extra on the season I DVD or read anything from the writers or producers of the show. I know Sawyers back story about his con-artist and grifting ways and the tragic back story to his childhood which I guess could mess anyone up and turn them into a sadistic sociopath.

Is there anything else I missed in the show itself that explains why he is the way he is.

In the pliot episode where you see him reading a letter and looking very sad just before he goes on the hike to send a signal the writers told him to act like it was a suicide letter he had written. I think one of the main reasons why he is so mean to others and isolates himself is because as Kate says, he wants to be hated. He had to resort to doing something which ruined his life, he took on the persona of Sawyer because that was what he had become and I think he hates himself for that.

I do remember that it did seem like Sawyer was suicidal. Which does explain a lot of his self destructive behavoir.

It was fun re-watching the pilot the other night on ABC.

I don't know if the writers are keeping it so that he was suicidal because we later found out that the letter he was reading was the one he wrote to the original Sawyer. But at the time of the pilot the writer's didn't have everyone's story figured out so just told Josh Holloway to act like it was as maybe that was a possibility they were/are considering.

I agree that he has a bit of good in him for what you said but what he shows in comparing to everybody else on the Island is poor. and you have a good point about the twins separated at birth ..and I understand that he had a bad childhood but it doesn't mean that he must make others suffer too or throw your anger at others . Didn't he just squash an innocent frog in one of the last episodes ?!! Why did he do that for if he is becoming a better person since he had that chat with Jack .

So I agree that Sawyer is cute to look at ..but not cute in anything else .

Well I haven't seen any of S2 so I can't make comments on that but everyone on the island has a dark side to them IMO, we might not know it yet but they have. I think Sawyer is just darker than everyone else and he truly hates himself for that. He has no one else in the world who cares for him or who is missing him and I think that a part of him believes he deserves that. He doesn't want be the good guy and be looked up to because of what he's done.

And on a lighter note, no Dex isn't better looking than Sawyer IMO (although he comes in close

)

I agree :0 and I do feel sorry for Sawyer for the person he became .Hopefully one day , he will become a better man and find someone who can love him !!!

and Ronon Dex is I think the hottest man on the planet ( I love not only his look but he is also a very compassionate man even if he is fiery
