Grimm reality is Roiz's daily diet

HE plays the mysterious, secretive and not-quite-human Captain Sean Renard on US fantasy drama-meets-police procedural series Grimm, but Sasha Roiz says real-life criminal monsters scare him far more than those the characters of the show morph into.

"Sadly, some of the stories we deal with - serial killers, murderers, and they are often based on real-life newspaper headlines - are far scarier than anything we can come up with in fantasy land," he says.

In Sydney last week on a three-week Australian holiday with his girlfriend, Roiz promised not to "morph" over lunch - as his character does in season two of Grimm - and shared childhood monster stories.

"I didn't have a monster living under my bed, I had this witch that lived in my basement," says Roiz, who at 195cm probably doesn't need to be daunted by much as a grown-up, but jokes that he opted for acting because he was "too short" for basketball.

"She would only reveal herself to me as I was leaving the basement and heading up the stairs.

"The lights were 25 steps from the exit, I'd be running as I turned off the lights, and I could feel her nipping at my heels."

Fast-tracked season two episodes of Grimm resume on Foxtel in January. Season one is currently airing on Seven.

Yeah, I saw that on Twitter. Mh, we'll see. If "Ever After" will be cancelled maybe I will go there. It's definetely cheaper for me as I can travel back home over night (Düsseldorf is one hour away from where I live ).
