Game of Thrones garners 13 Emmy nominations!

The 2011 Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced this morning and Game of Thrones was nominated 13 times! The biggest of which was being nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. Also Peter Dinklage was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Those look like some excellent casting choices Although they'll have to ugly up Gwendoline Christie imo and that's a really unflattering pic of Natalie Dormer on the ew.com article about her casting.

I'm very impressed with these casting choices, especially Carice Van Houten and Stephen Dillane. Although perhaps they aren't the most well known actors, they are extremely talented. Stephen Dillane in particular, has won a BAFTA, a Tony award and was also nominated for an Emmy for his role as Thomas Jefferson in the HBO miniseries, John Adams.

Carice Van Houten is also very good, she gave a standout performance in the film Black Book. Also she was recently in a another pretty good film called Black Death, which also starred a familiar face, Sean Bean.

So I'm happy with these casting choices thus far. But there are still tons of roles to fill, and I'm hoping that people like Kevin McKidd, Ian Mchane, Dominic West and James Purefoy get roles as well. Incidentally it seems certain that someone off Camelot has been cast, that rumour seems to be pretty reliable, as the same rumour said that as well as an actor being cast who had been off Camelot, another actor had been cast who had been in a previous Arthurian production. That has turned out to be correct, as Stephen Dillane was in the 2004 Clive Own movie King Arthur, where he played Merlin.
