I think the miniseries quality has never been too good however the series, which unlike the mini is shot in HD digital and not film, is excellent quality IMO especially on my HD TV!!!

      The separate Mini-Series disc has
      1) Battlestar Galactica: The Lowdown(mini-series)(45 minutes)
      2) 20 minutes of deleted scenes

I heard that the new set doesn't include these mini-series features. Only the mini-seres audio commentary. What's up with that? Are the Mini-series features really missing?

The lowdown is on the special features disk, number 5, of the season one backage. The commentary is also there but I don't know about deleted scenes.

The 5-disc set with the mini-series has the following bonus material:

            Commentaries for:
The mini – Ron Moore, David Eick, & Michael Rymer
            “33” – RDM, DE, & MR
“Bastille Day” – RDM & DE
“Act of Contrition” – RDM & DE
“You Can’t Go Home Again” – RDM & DE

Then it has Ron Moore’s pod cast commentaries for:
“Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down”
            “Hand of God”
            “Colonial Day”
            “KLG 1 & 2”

            The Lowdown
About 45 minutes worth of deleted scenes
            Sketches and art
            8 Behind-the-scenes featurettes
