    Meanwhile in the Ivory Tower

The King did not get his tribute
    Spoiler:
I don’t want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can’t even express these things properly, because I have to—I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I can know much more.

It's what you voted for, and the only thing trump has delivered on.
Do you still think he gives a crap about "blue collar worker's?"
You folks are the suckers, and unlike Obama, or Bush who actually wanted to make your life better, ALL he cares about is himself.
Both of them may have failed, but that was their motivation for public service.

        What is Trump's motivation?

Intent is one thing, what actually happens is another. Speaking very generally here, the Democrat agenda results in higher taxes and fewer job opportunities for working class people.

What comes out of their mouths sounds like it would be better for the working class, but when applied to the real world the result is invariably worse.

Look at the economy since Trump took office. Unemployment is at record lows, and wages are starting to rise as employers have to outbid each other for workers

Then look at Democrat/high tax states such as NY. People and companies (with the jobs they provide) have been moving out in droves for decades. Even in the current positive economy, NY is lagging behind other states with lower spending and taxes.

The Dems TALK a good game, but the result isn't so good.

So you're fine with one of the biggest company of this world not paying a cent in taxes, actually getting a refund of 120ish millions, while the ''working stiff'' gives half his earnings to Uncle Sam?

              That's just plain hypocrisy man

And republiCANTS didn't do that to President Obama's nomination? Come on. Ruplitards kept putting off Obama's nomination to the SC because the elections were coming up. Your hypocrisy is mind numbing.

Sure because a bunch of protesters, who raised valid concerns (this Corp is in bed with Data mining companies helping the govt on their immigration crusade), can influence Amazon in their decision.

Even sucking their d*ck (tax break) didn't help. I say screw them.

Actually, this is *awesome* GOOD news for Amazon. They don't have to now deal with the BS coming from the lofty *high and mighty* attitudes of progressives and ungrateful NY'ers.

Let the Amazon company find some other locale to move into and give them the opportunity to work and grow, where appreciation for Amazon's presence would be pleasantly welcomed. NY was simply going to be a serious drain against Amazon and this situation would eventually kill off Amazon's ability to keep some of their prices on the affordable (cheap cost) side.

Mild translation...if Amazon stayed in NY, then say good-bye to Amazon Prime, because eventually it would not be affordable any more. Nor would the sales remain on the low end. Prices would be forced to climb, and customers would stop shopping at Amazon because they couldn't afford it, short of receiving and using "gift card"s.

So.. good riddens NY...! Screw NY. Let NY (specifically its political portion controlled) go back to living in the "dark ages" then (so to speak)... eat their own u-know-what... Capitalism doesn't grow when (*progress*ive) "socialists" destroy a company's ability to make profits and expand so that the cost and demand for certain products can effectively work together at reasonable $$ amounts. Had Amazon settled into NY, the (current?) *progress*ive/socialists agenda would force Amazon's prices to skyrocket higher and thus, eventually kill the company or at least shred apart the branch office enough that unless a protective security wall was built around the other branches, the domino effect of destruction would eventually eat the company apart either at the seams or from within.

Seems within the recent decade or less, anyone who is successful is going to be torn down or destroyed. Why? Is it jealousy or just plain bullying behavior on the part of those who hate success? These charades of destruction are getting tiresome.

Yet democratic states have the highest level of employment for decent living wages.
Do you want state welfare for the "working class"?
Better question, WHY does the perceived working class need aid?
Perhaps because they are not working class, but lower class slave wagers?

Yes, they tax more, because the working base has more money to tax because they make sure even the burger flippers can make a living wage. If I force corps to pay a decent wage, it does not matter where they exist because their revenue is forced into paying workers, who then pay tax. Trickle down is NOT from corp to government, it's corp, to worker to government.
All you are doing is cutting out the worker, then complaining about it, and that's not SAD, that's just bloody ignorant.
The guy who mows my lawn gets paid more per hour than your teachers, think about that. A middle or lower class job here pays more than the professionals who educate the next generation of Americans, and they don't have to deal with "emergency lockdowns", or even (HORROR) kids.
What comes out of their mouths sounds like it would be better for the working class, but when applied to the real world the result is invariably worse.
Your "real world" is around 50 years ago, when you benefitted from socialist policies.
It's not the real world today.

Look at the trend where Obama took an economy on the verge of a great recession and started fixing it.
Trump is claiming the already existing downward trends made by Obama as his own.
You support a lie, simple as that.

Actually, Amazon has other facilities in NY; they have a distribution center in the Rochester area, for example. It was just the far left loonies in NYC that drove them out of that region. Just think. 25K jobs that won't be created. Of course, that works out good for the progressives; if someone doesn't need government cheese, they have far less need for the Democrats who hand out the cheese....

And yes, it is the "politics of envy". Remember the former sorry excuse for a president's line "You didn't build that" ?

I understand the opposition to how Amazon was convinced to build in NYC. I really do. They were given a crapload of tax breaks to locate here, and other NY taxpayers will have to pick up that slack.

But the only reason they needed to offer those breaks is that NY's taxes are so high and there are so many ridiculous regulations in this state that in order to attract any business here, they have to offer them.

The proper solution is for the state to lower its taxes so they are competitive with other states, but to do that, the state would have to make drastic cuts in its spending. That's what really needs to be done.

As I recall, you opposed that idea in another discussion we had recently.

So, the end result is NYC loses 25,000 decent jobs as a result of NY's tax and spend ideology.
What would your idea be to bring those jobs ? You can't force a company to build in your state.
