SO GW community, When did you first see the Ocean and what was your reaction to it? How long ago was it?

I was born in a seaside town.. So the ocean to me is just a normal part of the scenery

Before my preteen years, went to Jones' Beach in NY (USA). I hated it. Water was very icy, even tho it was a hot summer day. Was told about sand bars then being further out from the shore and shallow enough to walk around on, but didn't understand what they were until years later. Google maps really helps now in showing the geography of the earth's (sandy) ground levels underneath the waters.

A long long time ago. Twert the Pacific ocean.....and it was really cold and stinky. But at least the sea lions were friendly.

If you mean strictly an ocean then I'm not sure. I'll have seen the North Sea very young though.

I was less than 5 years old the first time I saw the ocean; I don't remember what age I was. I do remember falling in love with it immediately and never wanting to leave. My family went to the beach at least once every summer and I remember crying when it was time to go home, because I didn't want to leave. I finally got to move to the beach (an Oregon coast town) in 1986, and got to live there for 20 years before my life got rearranged and I had to move away. I still miss the ocean.

First time I really saw the Pacific ocean was on a road trip down the entire route of Highway 1. The Entire ROUTE!

To stave off the road sickness I started wishing that Godzilla would pop and destroy the highway.
