Happy Diamond Anniversary, Queen Elizabeth II!

February 6, 1952. Elizabeth, daughter of King George VI, ascends to be Queen Regnant of seven countries, four of which she remains today as Monarch: the Commonwealth of Australia, the Dominion of Canada, the Realm of New Zealand, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. For each of these sovereign states, it is her Diamond Jubilee, though the other countries, like Jamaica and Fiji, celebrate it as well. In any case, go Commonwealth! Wheeee!!!!

That's just the Commonwealth, she isn't monarch over every member state of the organization. She's reigning monarch over the 16 I listed.

She's head of the states in the Commonwealth Realm, the Commonwealth of Nations is a larger group that also includes countries that no longer have the British Monarch as Head of State
