February 6, 1952. Elizabeth, daughter of King George VI, ascends to be Queen Regnant of seven countries, four of which she remains today as Monarch: the Commonwealth of Australia, the Dominion of Canada, the Realm of New Zealand, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. For each of these sovereign states, it is her Diamond Jubilee, though the other countries, like Jamaica and Fiji, celebrate it as well. In any case, go Commonwealth! Wheeee!!!!

That's just the Commonwealth, she isn't monarch over every member state of the organization. She's reigning monarch over the 16 I listed."A society grows great when old men plant trees, the shade of which they know they will never sit in. Good people do things for other people. That's it, the end." -- Penelope Wilton in Ricky Gervais's After Life
