My One Veterans Day Question.

But my question is.... if its VETRANS day...why do Banks/post offices and other GOVERMENT institutes get the day off?

I MEAN SERIOUSLY!?

I say if you aint a vet,ain't in or have been in the service,get your FAT BUTT back to WORK!

Give the day off to those that DESERVE,And that have EARNED it!

A friend of mine is a vet but he was still on duty at the park ranger station today--and I'm not on duty again until tomorrow. I talked with him briefly and I told him making work on Veteran's Day seemed pretty insulting of our high-ups to do. He seemed personally hurt about it too. Then again, we have a very low opinion of some of the rangers at work anyway so this is pretty much par for the course for these people.

Can't really do that. Work is by invitation only. These guys don't allow you to come in to work on your day off.

Some businesses here don't observe Veteran's Day either. Then again, these are the same businesses that skirt around giving proper lunch breaks (seriously illegal) and other things--like paying their employees' salaries in installments since they can't afford the proper paycheck. Thankfully these places are more and more rare but they are still around.

I hear ya on that. Place where I work is trying to say that for those employees that are on OT hours that if they work the holidays they won't get the OT pay fort the OT hours they work. They will just get the holiday pay....mmmmyeah.
