of course regular plastic bags probably wouldn't be much of an issue if there weren't so many people who are too lazy to sort their trash (At Whole Foods our trash can be sorted into regular trash, of which the goal is to incinerate 85% of it and leave only 15% going to the landfill, mixed recyclables, and compostables)
Agree with all of what you said except one thing, the paper bag vs plastic bag. It is a common misconception, paper bags actually pollute more than plastic.

    Paper vs. Plastic Bags
Fiction: Many believe that paper bags are more environmentally friendly than plastic bags because they are made from a renewable resource, can biodegrade, and are recyclable.

Fact: Plastic shopping bags outperform paper bags environmentally – on manufacturing, on reuse, and on solid waste volume and generation.
    Spoiler:
I don’t want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can’t even express these things properly, because I have to—I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I can know much more.

Couldn't paper bag waste be incinerated though with less ill effects than burning plastic? I know plastic can be recycled I'm talking about the ones that wind up in a landfill.

I also don't think I was trying to promote one over the other...just listing the various pros and cons of both paper and plastic...with perhaps "bio-bag" plastic grocery bags being a good "best of both" solution...the performance of plastic with the biodegradability of paper...use it to bag groceries and maybe another use out of it to line your garbage can with

It's a legit question MG, I actually didn't know that until a couple years ago. Was wondering why paper bags had disappeared along with the plastic ones.

yeah....do something productive with all that hemp (make biodegradable plastic bags out of it) instead of just smoking it all

You've been enjoying an ultra-capitalist lifestyle for so long, it's time you pay the bill (you being the US).
The US also produces a large portion of the products used throughout the world.

So each side goes the way that supports itself. Fair 'nuff.

But common sense says that since it's been going on since long before we were here, it isn't being caused by us.

A large percent of the population, particularly the young skulls full of mush that claim to want socialism don't even know what it is. As they learn more about it, they're gonna see beyond "free stuff for me".

There are a number of other articles out there that say the same thing, some more recent, but that's what I found quickly.

It's kind of a chain reaction thing. Some affluent folks leave. But the state won't reduce spending/cut taxes, so they raise taxes on those that remain. This drives more of them out. Which raises taxes even further. Round and round it goes.

When you go to groceries I see people bagging fruits individually, I see people triple bagging their meat, it's just stupid and a huge waste of plastic. I haven't had to use a single plastic bag in over 5 years now, I keep those that I don't have a choice to get (say 1 bag for meat) and that's more than enough. I've got a bird and he probably craps 5 times more than your cat does, never had to use a plastic bag, I use my actual trash which you need to empty anyways.
And they charge about a buck for the reusable cloth bags. Guess which is gonna be more popular?

And I rather doubt your bird has more output than even one of my cats. It's not just the crap, it's the urine, too, and the litter which contains them. I get about 10 Lbs worth every 4 days or so from my 3 cats.

The reusable one. Honestly, there might be one person out of 10 customers in line that don't have their own bags and most of the time it's because they forgot them at home. Literally everybody has them, it's so much easier, no need to pack a thousand bags, you keep them in the car trunk and you can use them over and over again and they have many uses.

That's not a ''going to be'' this is a ''it is more popular''.

We have yet to find a warehouse to stash his plastic bags collection. Postponed for now.

You think I'm gonna use $1/bag reusables to get rid of cat litter? Not a chance in hell of that happening.
If the Democrats had their way, they'd charge us a breathing tax.

Just drop it in a dedicated trash bin outside without plastic bags? It ends up in the same exact spot dude, the landfills and biodegradable litter actually feeds the soils.

I here say we are done talking about your cats. I will also take act of GF's post and neutralize myself from this thread. When Bible leads to cat you know SatanSoros is coming.

Not my desire, my intent was simply to show SG's lens. Argue the biblical that the bible itself says no one will know the time or the place of the events of revelations. This thread, by definition of that, fails. SG is assuming knowledge she is biblicaly denied by GOD.
She's playing at god, I think there are examples in the bible of people playing as god.
