I know, a lot of folks don't like the "God did it" ending, but I have a theory which explains that.
What if "God" in nBSG is RDM's portrayal of the Beings of Light or Seraphs from TOS?
The Seraphs demonstrated every power attributed to "God" in nBSG. And RDM couldn't show aliens onscreen due to a clause in EJO's contract. Every other aspect of TOS was somehow shown in nBSG, with the glaring exception of the Seraphs. Barred from showing aliens onscreen, I think RDM portrayed them as "God", responsible for the godlike events shown in nBSG.
