But I named all the bones so that will make it easier to select the right one

A skull is just a collection of head bones in simplistic terms.

Indeed.. But in an armature it's basically just a stick that tells all the mesh objects attached to it which way to move or rotate.

I need more practice animating.. It turns out it's really important when making an animation..
