    Video Editing Help please

Was not sure where to post this, but this seemed like the most likely place.

I'm getting back into doing some music videos. It's been quite about 6 years since I've worked on them, but just recently finished one. Unfortunately, most of the stuff I used is old and not compatable with Windows 7 64bit. I have PowerDirector which is wonderful, and I am using DVD Decrypter to rip to hard drive so I can use the files. The problem is that I'm having a hard time finding something good (and free hopefully) to get the files out of vob to avi or some other usable format. PowerDirector will read Vob files, but since they are so large, they tend to lag and it takes 2 min for it to even read a clip. If anyone can point me to something that would work, it would be greatly appreciated. I tried using the WinX vob to avi, but for some reason, it doesn't always get the whole file, it will do 15 min of said file, and not the whole thing, so am missing the footage I need.
