What you saw was a decoy. Its easy to trick a 3 brain cells squirrel or P90

it's time for another annoying eagle vid. At around 19:40 M flies to the ground around the horse...and he picks up a giant 6 foot stick and takes it to the nest. It's so large it's not really fitting exactly how M planned. But it's so adorable!

Eagles aren't capable of planning

sure they are...just by them "preparing their nest" they are planning for their off spring. They know they need high "rails" on the nest to keep the little eaglet safely in the nest and prevent them from rolling out.

That's not planning anymore that they plan to kill. They just go out and hunt

but by observing their behaviors they definitely change their behaviors based on what's coming up. Right before the big hurricane down there Harriet was seen trying to build a nest in a neighboring tree that was much more protected and not out in the open as much. Some said it was her "instinct" to prepare for that storm. I think instinct can give them a certain awareness and ability to prepare and plan for what they know (even in their limited capacity) what is coming up for them.
