She asked a fair question. Although "The Dukes" was quite a popular and influential show in the US, someone in the UK may not have ever seen it, and will almost certainly not understand why it was so influential.

The answer is likely to leave her with more work to do. As a youngster, even had she been born here rather than in the UK, I wonder if she would grasp why this show had such an impact on our culture. I have just given her a nudge in the right direction.
