                        Myself, I don't think we should ignore a water filter, as it can be a versatile gadget. I think we might be better with a cloning/conversion machine.
                        Place the water filter in the machine, select "Clone" and then on the "convert to" selector, select the type of filter that you need; furnace filter, a grease filter for the range hood in the kitchen, automotive gas and oil filters, air filters and such. If you think about it, there are an awful lot of filters in the equipment that we use day to day.

                                She would have to be modified to fit the mountings for various filter types. Screw on mountings for oil filters, a rectangular form for use as a furnace filter, for example. That's the "Convert to" aspect of the machine.
