The competition is so high right now for some jobs, that people with degrees are fighting over middle management jobs at fast food. People with no degrees don't even stand half a chance.
Why college? Do you want to be able to eat?Posting at.............

Yes it is important, yes you can chose to go there if you want, no I do not dispute that it is a great way to potentially learn a lot of things about the world and then maybe move on for a career one day. But its not the only way and the way we are doing it now is improper in the extreme.
If you have a problem with the state and national financial aid programs (which it sounds like you do), then that's a different matter entirely. Just please don't knock college.

Personally, I've very grateful for the people who have decided to donate money toward scholarships and grants--without them, I either wouldn't be able to go to school or it would be extremely difficult.

As for the charity debate yes as long as its charity I ahve no problem with it, and as long as the grants do come from private sources. But it seems we are heading in the direction away from it and more Government control when they already have a program that shouldn't exisist (FAFSA), and furthermore at least for my college experience you had to go and get a FAFSA and fill one out no matter where you were getting the money. Unless of course you are able to completly fund it on your own independently. But that means that even the 'charitable contributions' the charities and grants are from tainted sources.
