Well, I would buy that, but she lived through the morphing of the British accent. So really, hers should have changed along with it.

Incorrect. Accents settle at a certain age, if strongly exposed to them, and it takes years to develop out of them, which requires work. While she lived through the changes of the accent, unless she worked to change the accent along with it, then the accent would have stayed the same. That's why a woman from England can come, live in Canada for 50 years, and still have the same accent. It won't change (drastically).
