A farthing is a quarter of a penny coin denomination used here in England from around the 13th / 14th century through until the 1960's. I do in fact have some ha'pennies rattling around in a drawer somewhere I think
My mum has a small coin collection and I think she probably has farthings, at least a 'wren farthing' or two which were among the last produced. Those aren't worth anything much but the really old ones are, of course, worth serious amounts of cash.
While I'm here, this seems to be the appropriate place to say thank you Iffy for my first ever green in the Welcome New Members thread back when I first joined this site and had no idea what green was, how to give it or how to see who'd given it to me! Sadly the last part of that ignorance has persisted until very recently"There is only one universe. It can only contain one life. It is me." - MorningLightMountain
