Heheh... Last night I said I was considering starting trouble over here on this thread, but I refrained from doing so. You've just posted exactly what I was thinking of posting.

And frankly, O'Brien is, not to put too fine a point on it, batshyte insane if he thinks this is a good idea.

I don't they'd be surprised, it's not like American universities are free from liberal bullsh*t. Hell they're worse, I talk with friends from America and people comment on the internet, all go on about liberal bias in U.S universities. How they'll get some ranting liberal professor go on about the evils of conservatives and so on.

Where as in my experience UK universities manage to maintain a degree of objectivity in their teaching.

I had one that spent half of lectures going on how Obama was going to save health care. How that relates to health care managment I don't know

That sounds like a lot of the horror stories I've heard of. Speaking just for my university, the teaching for my politics course has been excellent and is objective. There's a good mix of left and right wing professors and none of them use lectures or seminars as their own personal platforms. Hell most would be horrfied at the idea. They'll give you their personnel opinion if you ask, never has it turned into a rant, it's always well argued and thought out.

If I talk from my friends from school who have gone off to other uni's, none of them complain about ranting professors injecting their own bias on to the course at their uni's. Of course we have the socialist-communist party/society at our uni's too. Of course there not always that successful, they're a real minority at my uni, and I remember a friend of mine at another university saying in his first year he and a bunch of mates turned up at a meeting of these commie types and took the piss. Needless to say, the "cultural revolution" their socialist worker society wanted didn't gain much headway.

It was definitly the extreme on my part. Most professors are fair minded if your facts are there. I don't go out of my way to talk politics at school but I'm not one to silence my views and while their are some bad cases most are fair minded. When I took a Communications course and gave a more right then left speech on stem cells my left professor gave me an A-

check out the Austrian School of Economics, good example of bigotry & fanaticism. there, anyone who doesn't fully support full-blown unfettered (ie. Laissez-Faire) capitalism is considered a communist by the so-called "economics teachers"

Yes, because all professors just love the Democrats to death and hate Republicans. Half my professors have been so fanatically conservative it made the classes hard to listen to objectively, so let's have a little fairness here.

Fairness is impossible to the leftists and rightists. They only see their ideology and nothing else.

And anything that doesn't meet their ideology must be demonized all to hell and back.

I find the irony in this statement astounding.

Sorry don't really see the irony. I think he or she is trying to say, the two parties care nothing more except to promote their own respective parties' policies and party-oriented goals. They care more about representing their own party and forget what they are supposed to represent in the first place, the people.

I'm in the United States, where we don't have any parties named the Leftists and the Rightists.
