That explains why Bernie wasn't the Dem candidate. Even Trump had the notoriety already. Nothing new is ever added, only small twist and adjustments to the discourse of both parties.
Bernie didn't win because he was a democratic socialist, and most Americans are utterly ignorant of what that means, so Hillary got more votes.
You can have the best ideas of the World, but if you're not a celebrity you're never going to have a real shot at running for POTUS, whereas in a multi-party system people look more into the party's ideas since there are so many choices to choose from when it comes down to election day. I'm not saying the leaders have no importance, but not as much as in a two-party system.
Remember what I said about Americans being ignorant?
Not looking into it, no matter how many or few parties there are is just sheer ignorance. A two party system just promotes WILLFUL ignorance.

Talking about ignorance, I was watching Trump's speech live on the news at the UN and got to say it cracked me up when everybody burst out laughing at the mention of him having done more than any previous administrations.

Although, I must say the fact he smiled himself after wise and kind of joked about it looked like he handled the situation pretty well. At least he knows he's full of post-lunch-wastes himself.
      Spoiler:
I don’t want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can’t even express these things properly, because I have to—I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I can know much more.

There is absolutely no legal barrier to a 3rd party running and winning the White House or any congresscritter's seat.

That doesn't mean there isn't a barrier, though. But that barrier is not notoriety, or charisma, or any other personal attribute.

It's money, plain and simple. It take an awful lot of it to even get started on a state level, and at the national level, you need the backing of a major party as well.

So if Cruz or Rubio won the nomination, Trump wouldn't have been able to get the backing he actually got? He didn't really spend his money, btw.

No, he didn't use (much) of his own money. But the threat was there. As I recall, during the primary season, Trump was pretty much a challenger to the "establishment" GOP powers that be. But he didn't HAVE to toe the official party line, because he and he alone had the money to tell the GOP establishment "Hey, I don't have to listen to you, I don't need your financial backing".

            Money talks, BS walks.

No, I approve of Beto's reaction. What is pathetic is the people harassing conservative/republicans at restaurants and such for their political beliefs.

So are people harassing others with their pro-life babble shoving images of torn babies in your face. I actually just ran into one this morning on my way to work.

The hat fits the right as well, both are ridiculous and pathetic.
