I don't think simply cutting off the illegals, while a good and worthwhile step would have much overall impact. Other forces are driving costs up, among them the aging population, out of control drug pricing (why are drug companies allowed to charge US patients far, far more than patients in other nations pay for the same drug?) and certain other factors which are driving costs through the roof. And frankly, I don't think it's politically possible to stem these spiraling costs.

Pardon me for confusing you with the facts, but drug prices have been inflated in the US for DECADES. Identical drugs, both generic and formulary (only made by the inventing company) are sold outside the U.S. for pennies on the dollar.

we have quite enough government involvement with Big Pharma already....how do you think Big Pharma got to become Big Pharma in the first place? that's what government involvement usually tends to do....bloat things unnecessarily

Governments bulk purchase them, giving them tremendous buying and pricing power with the companies involved. It's no other countries fault but your own for not doing something similar, but that would be socialist, right?
