Oops, Ainty - I should have said something earlier. I was just getting on to do the counts.

With the final word from the National Weather Service, the count is 9 tornadoes last Friday (spread over about 6 counties). 1 EF3, 2 EF2, 3 EF1, 3 EF0.

Here is a interesting map of the path of the long most destructive one - 22 miles.
      http://www.kmov.com/home/font-color9...209930731.html

Each of the triangles are where damage was done. If you zoom in so the triangles are more separated, you can click on individual ones and see detail and pictures of the damage at that spot. The brown triangles are the strongest point of the tornado and the worst hit.

If you look south, I live just about where the St Louis word is, just west of the Mississippi River.

Thanks TS for the show and tell of the tornadoes in your area. Are the different colors of the triangles the EF size numbers?

Yes. If you click on a triangle it gives you all the details. I think that path is actually just considered 1 tornado and it had various levels of damage along it's path. So there were 8 other tornadoes in the metro region. Some where farther west, some in Illinois and some down south and west in Franklin and Jefferson County.

But April and May are generally the worst weather months for hail, and tornadoes, so that's over with. But then there's Sept when the weather starts cooling back down. And you can always be suprised like the Dec 31 tornados a few years ago. I didn't know you could have tornadoes in Winter.

Yeah, we had one I think in '99 that was enough to get the chandeliers swinging, but it didn't really do any damage here. I think it was epicentered closer to Seattle and they got more damage. We get tiny ones every once in a while where everyone just looks at each other and says "Did you feel that?" because we're not sure if it was an earthquake or a big truck driving by.

I haven't seen "42", but we thought IM3 was pretty good. Much better than IM2! (And, of course, you have to sit through all the credits at the end to get to the little joke scene.)

That's the thing with hurricanes too; there's things that slow it down, and then suddenly it's crashing down on everything.

I remember in Dallas the tornado season started late Feb and ended around the beginning of June.

Actually this winter with all the storms, I remember there was definitely lightning and thunder mixed in, and if you have rotation in the storm, you can get snow twisters.

That's what happened when I was living in the city... we were so close to the railroad that when I woke up to the house shaking, I just figured it's the trains, again. Later I heard we'd had an earthquake up in Westchester. Between the trucks and trains the house was always trembling.

Ok of so the other night we had a freaky little storm blow through. The guard out front of the bank was caught by surprise by a killer pine cone. In its attack it smacked his muscular arm and splattered bright red blood over his white jersey!

We are talking a big like the "Rock" guy! Was joyful to taunt him about having his butt kicked by a pine cone!!
