I'm currently doing an auditory tour of Japan, where I have re-discovered some old faves as well as some new bands.

"Freedom" or "Play" or "Dice" or ... pretty much anything they have done is pretty damn good... stopping talking about them so as to avoid geeking out here.
Sime other suggestions include:
Majiko, a vocalist with a very good back-up band. "Remembering (LIVE)" from this page is well worth listening to, twice, once with the subtitles off and again with them on. It changes the song).

Hump Back have a Ramones feel to their sound. They are lots of fun. "Upset" is quite good:

Gacharic Spin are a derivative from Doll$boxx and other acts. They are a group of solid musicians/vocalists who perform at a high energy level. If nothing else, they have Tomo-zo on lead guitar Koga on bass. There's a "Cowboy Beebop" feel to the start of "Mindset" https://www.youtube.com/user/GacharicSpin/videos
Last, but not least, Drop's. The blues feel in "Break" (especially in the vocals) is really good. I feel it's a shame that they don't put more out in this style. https://www.youtube.com/user/dropschannel/videos
