Incubus-4th Movment of the Odyssey(Halo 2 Soundtrack)

First movement of Beethoven's 9th symphony in D minor as played by the Cleveland Orch. directed by Szell. The beginning of it sounds like the orchestra is tuning up, with the horns holding a soft, steady tone. A quiet hint of sound in the violins slowly gets louder as the violins test the waters, making sure they're in the right key. All this time, they've actually been on the dominant "A" chord. A regal fanfare puts it into the tonic before everything falls apart and we resume the tuning session, this time in D. Another fanfare in Bb blasts the door wide open and the orchestra starts grinding away. The second, more melodic theme comes soon enough before we are thrown back into the dotted rhythm of the first theme.

The development section begins with a variation of the tuning session. One or two themes eventually emerge from this development section. The recapitulation begins with a fortissimo version on the tuning session. What had been a morning awakening is now a roar with blasting trumpets and timpani. The coda plays the themes from the development until everything slows down. A soft march begins, picking up speed as it gets louder. A final blast from the fafare theme and it's all over.

Now on to the celebrated scherzo and it's famous timpani part...

None, I accidently wiped out my iTunes by upgrading to XP Professional. Needless to say, I fortunately backed up everything.
