    Was Stargate inspired by any books?

    Or have any books been inspired by Stargate?

    There is a thing called "a stargate" in the book forever war that do transport you but they are a lot bigger.

      Well, there was a book back in the 60's (or maybe 70's) called "Chariots of the Gods" by Erich von Dannekin, that suggests similar things to what Stargate does. And there are really crystal skulls that have been found around the world. I have no idea what inspired the writers of Stargate to write the movie, but theirs wasn't an original idea. And for many years before the Stargate movie, there was speculation that the building of the pyramids of Egypt and those found in Central and South America were in some way connected.

        It wouldn't surprise me if Star Trek was the inspiration for Stargate, it also wouldn't surprise me that something else inspired Star Trek.
