How about a story set 15-20 years in the future in the MW that focuses on The war with the lucian alliance in the first few seasons. It could be set on Earths newest colony showcasing All the Technology obtained from the asgard (new ships, Weapons, Power Sources). Different cast entierly. The later seasons could focus on a war with say the aschen?

If they do something new, for it to stand on it's own it needs to bring in new elements. Having a war with the Lucian Alliance or the Aschen is simply rehashing familiar ideas. It would have worked as part of SG-1 or one of its movies, but if there's a movie or new show that's in the old continuity, but not specifically SG-1, it needs something new. I'm all for it being rooted in what came before, but if it doesn't move forward it will die just as quickly as SGU.

If they do any sort of series reboot, be it a continuation or reimagining, you can pretty much count on it being SG-1 2.0. They'll go back to a four man team of leader, tough-guy, scientist and archaeologist, they'll go back to Earth mythology, and they'll go back to being episodic, and from a purely commercial standpoint, going back to what is tried and tested is hard to argue against.
