I've been watching stargate for a few years now, and one thing kind of seems weird to me. Why don't the goa'uld have different types of mothership-level craft? I mean, all we ever see are ha'tak class motherships, and the occasional flagship of a system lord. and yes, there are gliders and al'kesh and things, but those don't measure up to ha'taks. haven't the producers heard 'variety is the spice of life'? why don't the goa'uld have, for example, destroyers, or carriers, or anything like that? i'm just wondering, becuase, for me, having only one type of ship at a time is boring. thoughts?

A. The Goa'uld are not very original, and get set in their ways. Besides, why redesign or replace something when it works just fine? (The US Air Force is doing this with the B-52 bomber. The first one flew in 1952, and some of the planes are going to stay in service through the 40s.)
B. Designing whole fleets of different ships would be too much work on the artists and VFX staff, and draw money out of the budget that can be spent on sets, guest actors, and other stuff.

You got to remember too that the Goa'uld are very greedy, so when one system lord has something new, they all want it.
Look what happened to Nirrti in "Fair Game". And that was for invisibility. Think what they would do if someone had a mothership upgrade. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you.

Now, there's this about cynicism. It's the universe's most supine moral position. Real comfortable. If nothing can be done, then you're not some kind of **** for not doing it, and you can lie there and stink to yourself in perfect peace.
