Unfortunately, it's not that simple, unless you're hinting at an uber box set - with both SG-1, Atlantis and the Movies in order.Jedi_Master_Bra'tac, previously known as wako!

I'm currently watching SG1 from the start... and I'm on season 4 currently. I was wondering when i should watch the SG1 movies and when i should start watching atlantis?
Should i watch Atlantis side by side with SG1 when i get to season 7 or 8 (i think this is when it came out) or should i finish SG1 and its movies then move on to atlantis altogether?
I just want it to be the most similar as to something you would watch if you were watching TV normally and they still Aired new episodes..

I never understood why people want to watch things in order. I usually go by which ones i hear are best. Like when i watched enterprise i went season 3, 4, 2 and then 1. I didnt miss any of it, and by the time i got to the end i connected the dots for the ongoing stuff just the same as if i had gone 1-4.
I think SG1s the same way. Maybe itll be more direct watching em in order, but u get the same experience no matter how u watch em.

Let's say you watch a show with 3 seasons, you see season 3 first and Person A and Person B talk about Person C's death. And then when you watch season 1 and see person C you know that he or she is going to die.
How thrilling is that?

I don't see the point in going 5 2 4 3 1 or what ever he was doing either..

The idea for each episode, along with its structure, are developed by ALL the writers at once. The script is written by 1 or 2 writers, and then it's passed around all the other writers again for review and stuff like that.
This isn't the Twilight Zone or any of the other anthologies. There is a specific storyline. The best experience would be to watch it the way the writers intended, which is to do it in order.

Hi all tau`ri .
I have now seen both sg1 and sga around 2 times, and some seasons/episodes even more than 2 times. My Stargate adventure started with watching SGA 1,2,3 and 4th seasons before I had seen even one whole episode of sg1. Since I knew that there was a storyline between those after season 7 of sg1 I started to watch sg1 season 7 after seen sga season 4. I went from season 7-10 (I beleive),then I started to go down and watch 6,5,4,3,2 and 1. So,it was totally out of order, but I got every little "puzzle" in an weird way,but I still enjoyed it a lot. I still find sg1 season 7-10 of sg1 the best in the show. I did like the Ori better than the Goa'uld as enemies. But after seeing it in that order I was addicted to sg1 as I was with sga.
Anyway, when I introduced Stargate to my friend I told him that he should at least start with sg1 season 7 and then from season 8 cross them with sga. I told him he was lucky to get the chance of doing this. However, another friend of me that only like sga did push him into watching just sga to start with. The friend that thinks he only like sga does not know better. Wont listen to me anyway.
Well, after this I have to admit watching both shows so many times and in the correct order (at least most of it) and I still think that even if sg1 season 8 and sga is written in an specific order,it is not a MUST to see it this way. It is ok to watch all sga or sg1 before the other one. If I had known the connection I would have done the whole sg1 and from 8 cross it with sga,but I did not know at that time. I just wanted a lot of space action after seeing so much from sga thats why season 7 came in the picture. What I realized was there was a lot of space action in seasons before 7 too.
My advise to people that have not seen all of sg1 and not anything of sga should cross them from season 8 of sga anyway, like other have stated here. It may give an more complete story. Now am looking forward to the 2 movies coming,sg1 and sga. And not to forget,I am very exited about the coming Stargate Universe. I hope it lives up to my hopes and expectations.
And btw,I am going to watch it from the start.. heheheheh
