it is a double standard, but i also think its a cultural and generational thing. i live in america and i will be the first to admit that our country is run by a bunch of old prunes who think they know whats best. they are from an older generation that see's nuidty as wrong. we americans won't really know if things will chage until we get people from our current generation in to leadership roles, because the current generation dosen't really care about nudity, most embrace it.

Sorry, I can't help it but didn't SciFi say they were aiming for a male audience between 18 and ... Doesn't really sound like Stargate is meant to be a family show to me.

No idea what Sky was aiming for back in the day, but that nudity scene... I really couldn't care less if it were in or not.

You hit the nail on the head...

To me, he is saying it is ok for kids to see violence, death, torture, blood, guts, etc, but not something as harmless as a naked body. And I am not talking about sex. A naked body is not going to give kids nightmares.
Very good point... I was thinking the same thing. I was like, "Huh?!? O_o"

Question: If COTG's nudity was a big no-no, then why was McKay's joke in Trio about flashing Carter her assets to the 10-year olds so funny?

FCC is the Federal Communications Commission

And they are still fining The Shield for episodes that aired 5 years ago.

I don't get the point of this thread. Are people actually complaining because there isn't enough nudity in StarGate ?
I'll have to be honest here, i dont' watch SG to look at women's boobies or bare rear ends. If you're that horny, go watch porno or BSG or something and leave it out of StarGate, which is also has a good number of younger audience.

Also, i have never really found sexual scenes in SG that much of interest anyway. To me, it's more about the really cool space battles, science+technology, and military tactics. And, i'm no "old prune", only 22.

It's not about wanting it, it's about whether or no it's appropriate.

It isn't about wanting it, it is about the double standard of saying a frontal nude shot is wrong, but all sorts of violence for a family show is okay and expected.

The short of it all is that if the nude scene hadn't been included in the episode it wouldn't have adversely affected the story in any way and we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

But it was and as such I do not believe it can be ignored, which in my honest opinion you try implying here.

People now days don't have any shame anymore, if you don't see anything wrong with pornography you obviously have moral issues. A good solid human being knows and understand and practices moral maturity. I don't watch pornography. I don't watch shows that have excessive cussing. In fact i wish all shows didn't have cussing in them at all but in this world its impossible. Not all violence is bad, when you have an understanding adult that can comprehend the struggle between Good and Evil violence can be justified. I watch shows that have violence but if its too gorey i won't watch it, there's plenty of ways to make a show/movie that gets the point across to the viewer how bad the situation is. this is my beliefs, you definitely have the right to watch what you want, and do what you want but i know for certain i have a code of ethics to follow, and if it doesn't fall in line with my beliefs i won't watch it.

Err no, that's just your opinion. The only reason we wouldn't be having this conversation is because the chances of someone randomly complaining that a scene lacks nudity are slim.

Actually I think it's you that clearly has moral issues. How is pornography immoral, exactly?

True, although I don't see what that has to do with either nudity or 'cussing'.

                                Why?
