Wanna know what a good Stargate spinoff would be?

I reckon when SG1 is nearing its end, they should start a third spinoff called:

    Stargate: The Great Alliance

The spinoff would obviously be based in the past (10000+ yrs ago) when the Ancients/Nox/Asgard/Furlings were still joined by the alliance. It should be based on the sort of stuff they were up to those days. It would definitely be as successful as SG1 since it would bring so much answers to things fans have wondered about. Like showing the actual war in the Alteran homeworld/galaxy and how they moved to the milky way galaxy, how they met the other 3 great races, what the humanoid asgard were like (since they would have had emotions back then), how the whole alliance handled the plague, what role the furlings played in the universe, whether the alliance helped in the Pegasus galaxy, new unknown aliens that existed before the Ancients used the Dakara weapon to reseed the Milky Way galaxy, whether or not the Nox were different those days, what the flaw in wraith technology was that the Aurora was trying to inform Atlantis of, an episode showing when Weir comes through the time machine for the brief appearance in Atlantis, etc.

    Any comments?

If they did do that which is a pretty good idea we would have to see; the war with the wraith and the war with the Ori. So thats a pretty good idea. except with prequels and the such you have to be careful about what you do because you can vastly change the mythology and history of the other shows.

Actually, that would be millions of years ago, from before the Ancients left for the Pegasus Galaxy. Because when they came back 10,000 years ago, they could not rebuild their great society. Most of them chose to either meditate to Ascend or spend the rest of their lives leading out peaceful lives.

This is why the Great Alliance must have been made before the Ancients left for the Pegasus galaxy.

Yeah I know what you mean, if it were to be officially done, the producers better make sure that they get all the details right with the smalls clues & details in SG1/Atlantis that relate to that time period.

Not only that, but the good part about doing a spin off like this, is that they can make up new stuff (10000+ yrs ago), which would then be revealed in the present day in the Stargate Atlantis spinoff, thus maintaining familiarity between all three shows. Obviously, they shouldn't do it too often, just maybe once every 3 or 4 seasons Atlantis should find something that relates to something "Stargate: The Great Alliance" revealed earlier.

Ok maybe I went back a bit too far back time-wise. Im not sure whether it was 10000 yrs ago or not, but it should be based on the timeframe when the alliance was pretty much alive. And to replace the "sg1 missions" from Stargate SG1, they could have missions from each of the races of the great alliance, like furlings go investigate something... report it to the alliance counsil, asgard propose a solution, stuff like that... the spinoff could go on for ages, with constant new episodes that wont become repetitive either. There will be enough room for ideas since theres is so much that is unknown during that period.

I dunno... While in theory it would be great, I think in the end I would just be dissapointed. I feel things like that are best left to what clues we get in SG-1/Atlantis, and our own imagination.

Plus, what you're talking about happened over thousands of years, which could prove to be a problem.

For some reason, your idea reminds of the Jedi Council.
An all new Stargate spinoff presents

            Stargate: The B Team

The galaxy just got a whoooole lot crazier!

sounds excellent for a movie, like sg1 go back in time to ask for help to defeat the ori from the un-accended ancients but before they can help them they must fight a diffrent war, see anbus and other goulds as a u'nas, and see the furlings, nox, and none lil and grey asgard fight ppl full on before they so advanced (and before the ancients decided peace was the way and accended then the furlings and nox deicded to fallow) then in the end winning and going to the future.

as a series i dunno if 10,000+ years ago alien races having their wacky adventures wud work as well as down to earth, this cud bloody well be happening and we dont know it startgate. =]
