No think of it like the tollan they gave tec to that other race to defend themselfs but you know what happened.

And Sam's acsended man used his knowledge to make defensive powerful weapon for that planet but after they defended themselfs they planed to use it as a weapon.

Thus if your handed power you missuse the power after seeing you are the most powerful. And who knows how many races gave power to lower power races and it turned them into a conqureing race. Who knows that could have been the Goa'uld.
