Stargate Chevrons

Hi there something I have always wondered is that, given a within galaxy dialing is 7 chevrons and extra galactic (another galaxy i.e Atlantis or Thor's world) takes 8 chevrons. so my question is why does the Stargate have 9 nine Chevrons? other universes?
Thoughts?

My brothers and I wondered the same thing. There’s no evidence for this (to my knowledge), but we theorized that the Ancients were experimenting with either time travel or alternate universes, and the ninth chevron would’ve been for that if they hadn’t ascended before completing their research. But like I said, that’s just speculation and fan theory; I have no idea if there’s a canon explanation.

Just think of the possibilities if they could connect/dl Destiny's database to Earth's known addresses ect. All they would need would be a new power source, and you have entire galaxies to explore.
