Maybe it's a trick of light that's caused by a chemical the symbiote can release at will. The chemical reacts with visible light, making it seem that the host's eyes age glowing. Or it produces it's own light, like a firefly or something.

The whole glowing eye thing kind of reminds me of Dune. All the Fremen in the movies have eyes that appear to glow, but it's just that exposure to spice has made their eyes entirely blue.

I created a thread about that in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy forum. There is also an ancient Sumerian legend that tells how the royals and priest took this heavy metal (atomic weight, not rock n' roll... ) substance and it extended their lifespans, expanded their consciousness, and also was said to sometimes make their eyes glow... how freaky is that?? Sound familiar..?!?
