Last time I checked SG-1's ratings have gone up just about every season its been on Sci-fi, and Atlantis has been beating sg-1 basically all season. BSG gets automatic ratings because of its name, much like Atlantis has. If it continues to have better ratings, great, more money for sci-fi and more exposure for Stargate as well since they air right before BSG. If the ratings for BSG drop off next year I think someone is going to run away with his tail between his legs.

An opinion of a show's writing it totally subjective and very difficult to debate since people have different preferences and come from different backgrounds, especially for show with very different concepts.

With all due respect, I don't think that someone could just dive into the later seasons of SG-1 and automatically know exactly what's going on. When I started getting hyped for the premier of Atlantis, I started to watch SG-1 reruns again (and rediscovered my love for Stargate!). However, I didn't have a clue about what they were talking about. They kept talking about something called "Ancients" and "Ascension", "NID" and so on...Through the magic of DVD's and Gateworld's Stargate Omnipedia, I was able to completely catch up. Granted Stargate doesn't exactly follow a 24-style of arcs, but there is the larger story going on throughout the entire season.

I trust that I'm not the only one who feels this way?

If the situation were reversed and Battlestar Galactica was in it's ninth season the result would be the same writing-wise.

The fact is there's hardly a show in existence that has managed to keep things entertaining and original.

Anyway, I do think that SG:1 has had it's share of bad episodes and writing, but it's also had it's share of good episodes, which outshine the bad ones in my opinion.

More than one person has asked for evidence / sources for your claim of 'whining' from the producers, and we've not heard back from you. I'm not prepared to let a thread run on an unfounded accusation; without an actual source for your claim there's no future for this thread.

If you do have a source, PM me and I'll reopen the thread so you can post it.
